Moodle Playback Rate Problem

I am running a site with Moodle version 3.8 and I have the latest version of H5P installed.  In Moodle when pulling a video from Youtube the playback rate doesn't work, that is, you can't change it from the default of 1.  Now, I think this is more of a Moodle issue than H5P because in Canvas the H5P Playback Rate adjustment does work with Youtube videos.  So does anyone know if I can get the Playback rate to work when running H5P from Moodle.  I have also posted this on a Moodle forum.  Thanks.

Hi Dave,

Would you mind providing the information below:

  1. Detailed steps to reproduce the bug (exactly how and when did it happen)
  2. Platform and version number. E.g. Drupal, Wordpress, Moodle.
  3. Mobile or Desktop
  4. Browser: Chrome, Firefox, Safari etc
  5. H5P plugin version
  6. H5P content type and version (if a content type was used), and a sample URL or attached H5P.

If it worked before:

  1. Any recent changes to the environment (new plugins/modules, updates, configuration changes etc.)
  2. Any recent changes to the browser you're using (new extensions, updates etc.)

Can you also check if you will have the same issue using this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bLcdRo3GIkc.

The more information you provide, the quicker the community will be able to fix it and the quicker you'll have a working solution!

Ok, I think I figured out the playback rate problem with H5P and moodle.  If you push closed captioning from youtube in your H5P videos in moodle the playback rate won't work.  If you don't push closed captioning the playback rate will work.  However, Canvas does not have this problem.  In canvas the playback rate works with or without closed captioning pushed from youtube.

Hi Dave,

I am still unable to reproduce the issue. Do you have a sample content that we can check?

Yes, Go to this site https://www.mathmusings.com/moodle/ and log in as a guest into "H5P Test" course.  There are two videos I posted there that exhibit the problem.  Run the videos and try to increase the playback and you'll see it doesn't work.  Thanks for looking into this.  Dave

Hi Dave,

Thank you for the link. I was able to see the problem as well and filed a bug report.
