Set question retry attempts limit

H5P can only operate in two question retry modes.

  1. No retries
  2. Unlimited tries

Can we please have a retry limit attribute?

No retry in some cases is too strict. Unlimited means that the person can never fail.

Hi Jim,

Thank you for contributing your ideas on how to make H5P better! With the H5P supporter program the H5P community can now vote for and fund the top voted H5P features. Also there are developers in the community who every now and then work on a feature they find interesting or useful. You can also help by developing or help (crowd) fund the development of this feature.

Hi Jim,

I agree, this feature would be very helpful.

I saw interest in this feature a couple of years ago. Our institution has a license for H5P that we are using with Canvas. Because there is not a limit to the number of attempts, or faculty are reluctant to use H5P for anything formative assessment. Some faculty unknowingly think they are limiting the number of attempts through the Canvas assignment settings, but H5P ignores this setting. Would really like to see this added in the future.

You wrote "... or faculty are reluctant to use H5P for anything formative assessment"; I suppose you meant to write "our faculty are reluctant to use H5P for anything but formative assessment"?

H5P is fine for formative assessment but not really suited to summative assessment. There are a number of parameters which escape the teacher's control, as you have found out.
