Falcon: Leadership change at H5P Group

Since 2013 I have led the H5P Core Team and the company H5P Group that employs all core team members. Late last year I made H5P Group’s parent company, D2L, aware that I wanted to reduce my operational responsibilities and transition into a new role. Since last week I am no longer leading H5P Group. My new role is that of Strategy Advisor and I will remain active in the H5P Community. I will be advising D2L leadership on things like product strategy for H5P, open source, community building and product led growth. While we search for a new permanent leader, H5P Group’s interim leader is now Jeremy Auger, D2L’s Chief Strategy Officer. Jeremy will focus on getting the most out of the combined resources in H5P and D2L to pursue the vision of H5P and bring better learning moments to everyone.
The change of leadership does not imply any change of vision, direction, or roadmap. H5P Group will stay committed to ensuring H5P provides the same great experience across platforms. The open source code and community will be getting more love than in previous years. Roadmaps and other plans will remain transparent.
Together as a community, we have built up a global movement towards establishing H5P as a de facto standard for interactive content. H5P is likely the most used format for interactive content in the world. We will continue this journey with more force and purpose. The days where content was not interoperable, and you had to start from scratch every time, are over. We will continue to empower everyone to create, share, and reuse interactive content. We will keep ensuring that everyone can build better content faster.
As I continue to be involved in the project as product manager and product owner for all H5P content types, I look forward to working with Jeremy and the rest of H5P Group and D2L. Most importantly, I look forward to all of us in the community working together to build out the world’s best tools for interactive content.
