Timer

Is there a function to add a timer to a quiz/course.

A user goes to take a course and they have to wait 10 minutes and answer 5 questions before they course is complete?

Hello,

If you use Wordpress, you can turn WP into a LMS by using a theme or a plugin. Some of them use prerequisites and timers to force users to complete a course before they can take a test / a quiz or to force them to stay X time on a course to get it marked as "complete". You can have a look at Namaste, Learndash, LMS press and LifterLMS among them. If you use LearnPress LMS, you can add this plugin : https://fr.wordpress.org/plugins/learnpress-prerequisites-courses/

(I find these LMS too complex and expensive for my personal basic use so I use this free simple plugin instead : https://wordpress.org/plugins/simple-course-creator/screenshots/ .It turns my Wordpress posts into courses by allowing me to select some posts (each post contains an H5P activity in my case) and to regroup them as part of a course. Then when you click on a post included in the course, you can see a textbox above the H5P activity and this textbox displays all the other posts that you have added to the course : http://take.ms/C1QAZ Very basic and yet effective. I use another plugin to reorder the posts from a course in the order that I wish : https://fr.wordpress.org/plugins/post-types-order/screenshots/)

As there is no timer included with H5P, I also use this plugin : https://wordpress.org/plugins/timed-content/ It allows you to show a content only after X seconds or, on the contrary, to hide a content after X time. With shortcodes you can put your H5P activity inside a timer and hide the H5P activity after a certain amount of time : http://take.ms/jp8GY. It is kind of a timer, but the drawback is that there is no countdown displayed on the page to warn the student of the remaining time he has to complete the activity before it disappears.

I hope that this can help you.

Greetings,

Isabelle

This plugin for WP can also be useful if you don't want to install a LMS solution : https://fr.wordpress.org/plugins/progress-tracker/ It only works with pages not with posts. So If you have embedded your H5P activities in pages instead of posts, try it : it allows students to track their progress in a course and it allows you to keep track of their progress.
