Integration into Blackboard

Hi there,

I wonder if any H5P-Blackboard integrated users can help.

All tutors at our organisation have H5P logins for creation of content. We are hoping to get H5P integrated into Blackboard so that tutors can track performance on the Grade Center. Would integration require students to log in to H5P or would their performance feed through to the Grade Center automatically following their log in to the Blackboard site?

Thanks,

John

Hi John,

I'm assuming that you are hosting your contents using H5P.com and when you say "H5P integrated into Blackboard" this means you are using the LTI integration. If this is correct, there is no need for the students to log in to H5P.com. One of the main features of LTI is as seamless connection between the LMS (Blackboard) and the LTI consumer (H5P.com). So that users will only need to login to the LMS to use H5P, this is both true for authors/instructors and students.

You can use this documentation to guid you, if you have not yet setup the LTI connection in Blackboard.

On the other hand if you are not using H5P.com to host your contents, I'm afraid there is no wa of sending grades into the Grade Center.

Hi BV,

Thanks for your response. Apologies for not being clear.

We have a college H5P account and currently create H5P content then embed into Blackboard modules. We are in the process of getting H5P more connected to Blackboard so that student activity would sit in the Grade Centre. The Blackboard site is managed by the University and they are currently running security / DPIA checks before giving the green light for this to go ahead. I was just checking that students are not in anyway required to login or enter personal details into H5P when logged in to the University LMS (Blackboard).

Thanks agin,

John

Hi John,

Thank you for the clarification. Please note that embedding the contents using the embed code that you get from the embed button will not send grades to the Grade Center. You need to make sure that contents are inserted using LTI. Below are some relevant documentation:

https://help.h5p.com/hc/en-us/articles/7505544691101--Information-About-...

https://help.h5p.com/hc/en-us/articles/7505608748061-Scoring-overview-pe...

https://help.h5p.com/hc/en-us/articles/8840525041949-Why-am-I-not-gettin...

P.S. on the first documentation the information that says "You must be logged in as a student in order to receive scores." means that the student needs to be logged in to the LMS (Blackboard) not H5P.
