Why Update H5P
H5P has many dynamic content types for creating interactive content, and many of them are continuously being improved. These improvements can be things like fixes for errors, also know as bugs, extending the functionality or even enhancing the user experience to make the job easier for both you and you content consumers.
Due to this very dynamic nature and the fast growing ecosystem that is H5P, updating the content types by issuing new versions of the H5P plugin or module would just become too cumbersome.
What is being updated
The content type updates only update the code that is running in the browser and are therefore considered very safe compared to a plugin or module update which changes the code that is being executed on the server.
What happens to my content
Some of the content type updates will require you to convert old content so that it may benefit from the new features. It's, of course, optional to do this, however, we do recommend that you always stick to the latest version of H5P. When old content can be converted you'll see a green arrow next to it in the libraries manager. For the safety of your data, we recommend that you always backup your content before upgrading old content.
