How would you create this fill-in experiment table?

Hi,

I need to create this table (attached Capture.jpg) in H5P for my curriculum LMS. The idea is for students to select their Guess, then carry out the experiment, then select their Result. None of it needs to be auto-marked. I'm not sure how to go about it... trying to avoid just putting several multiple choice questions one after the other.

Can someone suggest the best H5P content type module to use? I'm very new to this.

Thanks in advance,

Alon

Hi Alon,

Welcome to H5P!

You actually would have to create several Multiple Questions but from the image that you provided this is best serve using Column or Course Presentation. I'll leave it up to you which one you would prefer ;-)

Furthermore since you are new to H5P you may not have access to creating these contents yet, a visit to this page should enable them. I would also recommend that you check out the tutorials for these content types.

Thanks BV52, I have decided to go with using Course Presentation. It looks beautiful and is easy to edit (see the attached JPG) but now a new issue has presented itself:

I want the "Guess" (hypothesis) part to be un-marked, only the "Result" part. But I can't seem to find a setting for Single Choice question to do this. From a pedagogical point of view, there's really no point encouraging and asking students to enter a guess/hypothesis if they are going to immediately be told if it is correct or not.
Alternatively a solution to this could be for students to enter their guess in text i.e. ask them "How do you think the speed of the fan using this gear combination will compare with no gears at all? Why?" and give them a textbox to write into. But I can't seem to find a "Short Answer" or similar question type in Course Presentation. Am I blind?

Any advice on what to do? I apologise if the answer is already in the tutorials you've given me the link for, I have yet to find the time to go through them!

Thank you,

Alon

Hi Alon,

First of all it is not in the tutorials :-) since it only teaches the basics of creating the content.

Here is how I will create your activity in CP:

1. Use image (for the image)

2. Use text for the information below the image

3. Use Multiple choice as the "Guess" with these specific settings:

    a. All options should be marked as correct

    b. Disable Retry and Show Solution

    c. Question type is Single Choice

    d. Change the text for the "Check" button to "Lock your guess"

Note: This will show a check mark whichever the student picks.

4. I used Single Choice Set for the results.

Here's a sample content  based on your screenshot above. If this works for you feel free to download it and use it as a template.

Thank you so much BV52! I did exactly as you said and it works well. There are a couple of other ways in which I want this CP to behave, but I think I'll try to figure them out myself first before asking for help.

Thanks again!

Alon
