questions in interactive videos

Hi all,

I was working on a question in an interactive video, which comes up at a particular point in the timeline. It was absolutley fine until I saved and went to view the main course presentation. I wanted to make a change to the question so I went back into edit it and after I made my changes and pressed 'done' a notification appears stating that the 'from' time code exceeds the maximum value of 0:30. Further down the editing panel, in the adaptivity section, a similar notification is appearing for the 'seek' values which direct a candidate depending on how well they did in the question. I had to completey remove and re-add the question before ti would accept the from and to time codes again.

Thanks,

Fred

Hi Fred,

This is a very unusual issue that was reported once. What makes this a bit tricky is it cannot be reproduced consistently (I haven't been successful). If you can provide some of the information below maybe we can find a way to consistently reproduce the problem and find a solution.

  1. Is the video hosted on YouTube or somewhere else?
  2. What browser do you use? Does the problem also occur with other browsers?
  3. Is the problem consistent with the same video file or does it work with the same video after some time? I think the answer would be it works on the same video as you stated above.
  4. Is the correct duration shown in the video player bar at all?
  5. If you see the issue please check the browser console for any errors.

Hi BV

  1. Is the video hosted on YouTube or somewhere else? - the video was uploaded directly into the interactive video editor window on the H5P website (as opposed to the moodle plugin)
  2. What browser do you use? Does the problem also occur with other browsers? (I haven't tried in another browser as of yet, no)
  3. Is the problem consistent with the same video file or does it work with the same video after some time? I think the answer would be it works on the same video as you stated above. - correct (Fred)
  4. Is the correct duration shown in the video player bar at all? - the video was a total of 2mins 40s long, so it wasn't like the 'to' time exceeded the length of the video
  5. If you see the issue please check the browser console for any errors. - I will try and recreate the problem again and check for any errors.

Hi Fred,

Thank you for the additional information. I will try on my side as well and post here if I'm successful. If you ever see the problem again please get back to us with the error if there are any.

Hello,

I have an instructor who is using the interactive video option a ton! It is really great for her class, and she has been enjoying it.  Recently, the video settings seem to be buggier than usual.

1.) Free Text Questions do not allow the instructor to view what the student wrote.  Moodle does not give the students any points for the answer, and sometimes marks it incorrect.  In the Free Text interface there is no where (that I saw) to add correct answers.  There also doesn't seem to be a way to review the student's response.

2.) Questions are being recorded as incorrect although they are correct.  The review of the student's work will say the correct answer is true, the student selected true and they were incorrect.  This does not occur with all users in a given assignment.  When I reached out to the student, they told me that they had tried a PC and mobile device and had no luck.

3.) If the instructor does not want the student to progress until they get the correct answer, the video ALSO does not let them rewind.  This is challenging because they cannot go back and review.

More than ever we are having trouble with this integration, it is hard to support it with our faculty when they begin to not trust it.  I'd love any troubleshooting advice that you have.  We are running Moodle 3.1.
