Viewing student results in WP

Thanks for your awesome tool!

I'm using the WP plugin and can make great quizzes and all. But I'd also like to analyse the results. I found 3 ways, none of which is what I need:

  • When I go to My results, I can only see my own results, not my students'
  • When I go to Results next to each content piece in All H5P content, I only get the most basic information - that someone got 4/12 points, not which questions they got right, or what they typed in.
  • I got the xAPI plugin, but this one spits out ridiculous amount of detail that makes the whole thing unusable. Even after cleaning the columns, I get useless info such as what time someone started a question. It's just unwieldy in practice.

Is there some way to get all and only the results that are useful in teaching and providing feedback?

Thanks!

Hi sfokt!

The H5PxAPIkatchu plugin is not intended to provide reporting, but to provide a basic replacement for a Learning Record Store that can be used to create customized reports on your own.

Best,

Oliver

Thanks! Is there something else that is intended to provide reporting then? S.

Hi sfokt!

For WordPress not yet unless one of the LMS plugins like Lifter, WPLMS or LearnDash offer some. You might want to check those.

After all, WordPress is a content management system and not a fully fledged LMS such as moodle (which provides better reporting for H5P).

Of course, H5P is open source software and everyone is invited to either contribute missing features themselves or to start a (crowd-)funding campaign to pay others to do the job. Unfortunately, that's too unconvenient for most people who are just looking for a free and "ready to move in" solution that doesn't cost them any effort.

Cheers,
Oliver

Hi skoft,

I'm sure there are other Wordpress plugins that acts like an LRS. I think we will leave it up to you which one would suite your needs.

Thanks for the replies. I realise H5P is a free open source software and I am thankful for that! Alas, I don't have the skill to modify it to my needs, might need to search for alternatives. I guess I just don't understand the limitation, as what I am after seems like somethign H5P already does - when you finish a quiz, you can go back and see your results. It just seems odd that the designers would not go this one step further and make those very same results saveable and available to the teachers. It's a shame, because this one thing makes an otherwise amazing tool completely unusable in much of teaching.

Hi sfokt!

You'd have to ask the original developers for reasons then :-) Can't answer that question for them.

BTW, no offense, just an observation: people always mention and affirm they couldn't code, but never say "I can't organize a crowd-funding campaign to support the community of a free and open software that I like to use."

Take care,

Oliver

Burn! You're right.

Hi sfokt!

I'd have preferred not to be right this time :-D

Anyway, I have a list of things that I'd like to improve in the H5P plugin for WordPress or to put into a separate WordPress plugin. Among them is reporting. I am still not sure, however, when I'll come around to it (still need to earn a living some time), if I am going to include it in some crowd-funding campaign of my own, if I am just going to put a price tag on it and leave it to other to raise funds, if I'll split it some way ...

Cheers,
Oliver

Would love this too, too have a nice reporting feature. Would be the finishing touch for me. And help me to monitor and understand my students without the clutter and mesh of a course builder plugin. Just want to assign a h5p test and see the results. :)

Hi all!

Improving the content management capabilities including reporting in WordPress is a common request, but still someone needs to find some time to propose some updates, or someone needs to (crowd)fund the development.

I may be able to contribute some time (for free), but not before next year.

Best,

Oliver

I was wondering if you know anyone who has started such a project?

Hi Finn!

Nope. Feel free to do that yourself.

Cheers,

Oliver

Hi, while I went through this whole trail and also did my own research, I have come with an interim solution to get your learner scores.
The same can be pulled from 2 phpmyadmin tables, exported and married in excel. Some work but it solves for the need to see the learner results. Check the screen shots shared
