Video player not loading in Chrome or Firefox?

Hi all,

Is anyone having issues with the video player loading in Chrome (Version 86.0.4240.198 (Official Build) (64-bit)) and Firefox (version 78 Windows 10)? I'm running Moodle 3.8 with OpenLMS.

I get a "Video player loading" screen, and the player never loads.

Thanks,

David

Hi David,

Was the video uploaded directly into H5P or hosted somewhere else (i.e. Youtube, Vimeo etc.). Do you see any error messages in the browser console?

It was hosted on YouTube, but there wasn't anything unusual about the link. We are investigating the possibility of a local firewall blocking the player.

Any other ideas would be appreciated!

Hi David,

I saw something similar to this a few days ago but the issue got resolved even before we were able to troubleshoot. Here are a few things that you might want to check:

  1. If you can play the video in Youtube. If not then the YTs server or the video itself is the problem
  2. Check using a different computer/device and network.
  3. Check the browser console if there are any errors.

Hope this helps.

I am having the same problem - I was alerted to it by a student and I experienced the same issue on my own laptop (Windows, using Chrome). The video loaded properly on Firefox.

Hi Everyone,

This looks like an emerging issue but so far I am unable to reproduce this on my system. I would suggest that if you are encountering this issue to provide the information below:

  1. Platform and version number. E.g. Drupal, Wordpress, Moodle.
  2. Browser: Chrome, Firefox, Safari etc and version
  3. Sample URL
  4. Any browser console errors
