Brightspace Embed Issues

I am self-hosting H5P on my WordPress site. However I am unable to embed my content in Brightspace following standard procedures. I am shown a blank page.

I can embed the content successfully elsewhere (standard webpages, LibGuides, etc).  However, when I attempt the to embed the webpage on which I have successfully embedded an H5P object, it also doesn't show up in Brightspace.

H5P is not enabled as an external tool in Brightspace at my place of work. 

Any ideas? And yes, I have triple check the code.

Hi!

I don’t know Brightspace, but I hope that I might help with asking questions.

  • One potential explanation could be that embedding is not allowed in Brightspace at all. Have you tried to embed some other arbitrary website (e.g. https://h5p.org) inside an iframe in Brightspace?
  • Have you checked your browser's development console (usually opened by pressing F12) for messages that could give a hint?
  • Have you checked whether the iframe code that you entered ends up in the HTML of the Brightspace page the way that you entered it (or at all?)

Embedding is allowed in Brightspace

I have been able to embed all kinds of things  -  YouTube videos, webpages containing the H5P connect (as mentioned above), etc. 

I have checked the code, too

Hi!

Could you please share the page's HTML that contains the H5P iframe then? Not what you paste, but what ends up in the page when viewing it. Also anything that you potentially find in the browser's development console?

Hi librarianhelen,

Just to add to what Oliver mentioned. I was able to to embed a content hosted in H5P.com inside Brightspace. I embedded by first clicking on "source code" then pasted the embed code. 

Are you inserting the code using a different process if so can you please provide the steps so that we can try to reproduce the issue?

I am able to embed everything but H5P. I am self-hosting on Wordpress not H5P.com.  

I am curious. Does your instance of Brightspace list H5P as an "External Tool"?  Ours doesn't.

Hi librarianhelen,

The external tool (LTI integration) does not have anything to do with embedding but to answer your question yes we have H5P.com as an external tool.
