H5P plugin and WordPress Gutenberg editor

Hi everyone

I did a quick search for this but couldn't find anything.

I switched a WordPress site to the new WordPress Block editor (Gutenberg), but it looks like the H5P plugin isn't comatible with that yet?

What puzzled me is that inserting a shortcode didn't seem to work either (although that could be something I'm doing wrong in the editor).

Does anyone else have the H5P WordPress plugin working with Gutenberg editor OK?

I've installed the WordPress 'Classic Editor' for now, so it's not a major issue, although it would obviously be nice to use the new editor.

Hi Stu,

Can you please elaborate on what is happening. I just tested using Gutenberg and I was able to use the shortcode. A screenshot of the issue as well as any error messages in the browser console should give us some clue.

Hi - thanks for your reply.  You are correct, the shortcode does work perfectly in Gutenberg (I think I had another plugin interfering with things). I do have a follow-on question though. I don't mind adding shortcode, but for some users it would be much nicer to have a button like the old editor displays. The curent H5P plugin doesn't seem to add that in Gutenberg. Is there a way to do this? Or will this perhaps be supported in a new release? Thanks!

Hi Stuart!

There already is a ticket for that issue: https://h5ptechnology.atlassian.net/browse/HFP-2385

Best,

Thanks for pointing that out Oliver :-)

I’m watching that item now.

Is there an option to vote for issues? I couldn’t see one (although I’m using mobile site on my phone while looking after the kids in a park!)

Hi Stuart!

I don't think there's an option to vote for features, but maybe someone from the core team can shed more light on that issue.

Cheers,

Oliver

I am very interested in this feature. The current strategy of pasting in a [shortcode] is very cumbersome for the trainer with no means to tell where the H5P content is in use.
