Sync audio and transcript so text can highlight as that part of audio plays

I would dearly love it to work like this:

1. I upload MP3 audio file and a transcript of the audio.

2.  The audio and transcript automatically sync in H5P (although if this was not possible I could auto sync them using YouTube caption function and then upload the timings)

3. Then, when playing the audio on H5P, the text would automatically highlight either by word or sentence as the speaker was speaking.

4. Ideally also the user could Click to a certain part of the text and play the audio from that part onwards,  or highlight a certain part of the transcript and just that part of the audio would play.

I'm a language teacher and I think this would be super useful. Do you think this might be possible in any way? It's already possible in things such as audio books but would love to have it as an H5P content type.

Hi janelawson,

Thank you for contributing your ideas on how to make H5P better! With the H5P supporter program the H5P community can now vote for and fund the top voted H5P features. Also there are developers in the community who every now and then work on a feature they find interesting or useful. You can also help by developing or help (crowd) fund the development of this feature.

Agree with janelawson, having this feature (audio synched with text) would be really wonderful. An instructor at my institution is creating an OER textbook and wanted to have the audio synched up with text, she ended using another software vendor for this.  Our institution recently became a member of H5P.com and this would be an excellent feature to have in H5P.
