Smart quotes vs straight quotes in FIB

Does anyone have a solution for fill in the blank items that are mapping specifically to a smart quote (curly) or a straight quote? Is there a way to recognize either without having to hard-code both as answer options?

No need for hard-coding here. Simple enter both as alternatives when editing your FITB question:

*Kitchener’s Principle/Kitchener's Principle* accepts Straight and Smart Quotes
