Hello,

I work for a health charity organisation and we run lots of educational programs. I'm keen to start implementing H5P packages, however, I concerned about intellectual property, security, and long-term technical issues, e.g what happens if we develop a quiz which we use for assessment and the H5P plugin is discontinued?

Do you have any documentation around these issues?

Hi,

The plugin is licensed under the MIT license, so if anything should happen to the H5P Core team, or the plugin should be discontinued anyone is free to continue the H5P project, so there is little risk connected to using the software, since everything is open for anyone to continue the work. As the usage of H5P grows and it becomes more community driven, this reinforces its independency, which should make you more confident that the project will not be discontinued. You can read more about it on the licensing page.

In addition the .h5p format mostly consists of JavaScript, HTML and CSS, so it is a very friendly format for porting the content types to other systems if one would want that. The standard is also completely open, so there is no problem in adapting it for your needs. You can read more about the project in general at in our documentation pages.

Please consult our documentation for any further queries, e.g. the security model and let us know if you're not able to find the answers to your questions.

Best regards,
Thomas
