Quiz (Question Set) --> drag text --> add media

Avi Megiddo's picture

The 'Quiz (Question Set)' content type allows users to add questions of several content types.

Most of them have the option to add media as part of the question (image, video).  However, the 'Drag Text' content type does not have the media upload option....I wish it did.    Please see attached images.

Thank you,

Avi

Supporter votes Members of the Supporter Network can vote for feature requests. When the supporter network has generated sufficient funding for the top voted feature request it will normally be implemented and released. More about the H5P Supporter Network

It should be a pretty trivial job to implement it. Maybe something for a community member to do on a evening. Like you say, it's plenty of examples in the other content types, on how to add it.

This would be a helpful feature in the drag text content type itself, too, when it's by itself and not necessarily part of a question set.

Hi uwmlrc!

H5P is an open source project, so it is not necessary to wait for the H5P core team to find time for adding this feature. Especially given such a simple request, I think it is very sad that nobody in the H5P community was willing to invest an hour to code it or to invest some time to find a coder who would like to contribute to the H5P project.

Whatever. Here you are. Will still require the H5P core team to merge in those changes and release an update unless you know how to patch your local system.

Best,
Oliver

Hi Oliver,

Thanks for your response! I don't know how to code, unfortunately, and I'm sure I'm not the only one, since H5P is advertised as being useful to coders and non-coders alike. If I did know how, I would love to implement the changes myself, but since I don't, I was under the impression that the best way of finding people to help was posting to the forum.

Hi uwmlrc!

"Found someone, you have, I would say, hmmm?" However, there's nothing more I can do but to write the code and contribute it. I did. Now the ball is in the H5P core team's court. They need to review it, merge it into the official code base and release an update to the content type.

If you don't know how to merge in the sources to your system, then I am sorry. Then you'll have to wait or nag the H5P core team.

I may have come across a little annoyed - and I am - but not about your post in particular. Sorry if I made you feel that way. It's just very frustrating to just see people asking for new features, for support, etc. but hardly ever giving something back. Open source projects are not only about coding! You can create documentation, you can create tutorials, you can add translations, you can crowd-fund money to actually pay someone to create new content types or features (and/or customize your platform), you can create, improve and maintain Wikipedia pages, and you can do 146 other things even if you do not know how to code! Unfortunately, guess how many people actually do that ... :-/

Cheers,
Oliver

Hi - does anyone know if this has been implemented? We use H5P.com via LTI and it is not there for me at work. I tried to go into my h5p.org account to check if it is on there, but there doesn't seem to be access to most of the content types any more.

Hi michelle512,

I'm afraid the PR from Oliver has not been reviewed, tested, merged and released by the developers in the H5P core team. I suggest that you reach out our Customer Success team by sending an email to [email protected]. You can ask them for updates on when the pull request will be reviewed.

With regards to H5P.org to provide a best possible experience for new users and to ensure that people use H5P.org only for trying out H5P (we've had more traffic than our server can handle lately, ref also the warnings when you create content, embed content and view the content) there are limited content types that are available.

Hi all!

There's a ticket for that issue (among related issues) that has been set to "selected for development" recently.

Best,
Oliver
