Option to Remove Quiz "Check" and "retry" buttons?

I was wondering if there is a way to remove or disable the "check" and "retry" buttons below quiz questions? If this is not possible, I really think this should be an option for those who don't want to allow users to re-do or check if there individual answers are correct. We want reults to be avaialble only on the final reuslts page like most quizzes.

Thanks in advance.

You may remove "retry" button through unchecking the 'Enable "retry" button' option under the "behavioural settings" menu in the content type editor. "Check" is not possible to remove currently.

You may remove the "check" button using hooks. We would love a pull request for removing/disabling check if you decide to implement it :)

Thanks for the fast reply! I will try the solutions you provided.

We are struggling to determine how to disable the retry button on the question set to provide a single opportunity to attempt the question set. Any help you could provide would be great!

Hi, for your convenience it is possible to disable 'retry' for all questions inside a question set through just one option in Question Set.

To do this:
1) Create a question set
2) Find the tab that says 'Settings for "Show solution" and "Retry" buttons' close to the bottom of the Question Set form
3) Select 'Disabled' from the select box under the 'Override "Retry" button' header

This should disable retry for all questions inside question set that allows you to override the retry button visibility option.

You can also go into each of the questions inside question set and find a similar option that will allow you to disable the retry button for only that question for more granular control of the retry button.

I'm looking to limit the whole set from being retried.

This is not currently possible in Question Set, you would have to create a feature request or a hook for the content types to get this behaviour.

Hi, I'm also interested in the possiblity of removing the check button from Quiz Sets as it wouldn't allow the students to know and share what answers were right or wrong beforehand. I will try using hooks though I will have to play around a bit since I haven't really got any clue as to how to use it.

Hi spaussie!

It has not yet been announced (except from the Release Overview), but this feature has been added last week. You can now remove the "Check" button in the section labeled Settings for "Check", "Show solution" and "Retry".

Bonjour,

A quelle date la version H5P contenant cette fonctionnalité sera disponible pour les utilisateurs de Moodle.

Hi tshchu,

It looks like you would also need to update the libraries for Question Set. Please download the sample here and upload it to Moodle. If you are still not seeing the option please attach a screenshot of the settings.

J'ai mis à jour la librairie et cela fonctionne.
Merci pour votre rapidité de réponse BV52

I updated the library and it works.
Thank you for your quick response BV52

In deed a very good feature for Question set. Do we have any plans to bring this feature to disable check button in course presentation content as well.

Harish

Hi Harish,

I don't know of any plans in the near future for this but I think that this is a good feature to have. Thanks a lot for contributing your ideas on how to make H5P better! We’re now working on something called the H5P supporter program allowing the H5P community to vote for and fund the top voted H5P features. Also there are developers in the community who every now and then works on a feature they find interesting or useful. In order for your feature request to attract as much interest as possible make sure it follows the below guidelines:

  1. It is clear from every perspective how the feature will work. We recommend describing the feature with one or more user stories, for instance “As an author I want it to be possible to pick between different effects for the check answer animation so that the learners will see a variety of effects and also I can adapt the effects to my target audience(I’ll be using pink unicorns which works really well for both my target audience which are 4 year old girls and venture capitalists)”

  2. If the feature can be illustrated with images or videos it always helps

  3. Make it clear what content types this is relevant for, and or if this is a new content type

Make sure you post the feature in the Feature Request forum.

Hi,

I would like to know, do we have any ways to avoid students cheating in the quizes.

When we removed the button "Retry", student cannot retry. However, if the refresh the page, they can do again to have better score. Anyway to allow them to do only 1 attempt?

Hi Thien An Tieu,

I afraid this is not possible. However you can try enabling the 'save content state' in the H5P settings to save the answers.
