integration with Dropbox Paper

dear people,

H5P is great for teaching languages, and I really enjoy creating content with it.

One solution that I and my students find amazing for interactivity is Dropbox Paper, where I can embed video and audio content - among many other types of content - very easily.

Having the possibility to embed also interactive excercises created with H5P would be amazing. This is already possible in other platform for collaborative online document editing, such as notion.so and samepage.io.

Do you think there will be any chance to have the same also for Dropbox Paper?

Thanks a lot for your great work!

all the best,

leonardo

Hi Leonardo,

Thank you for contributing your ideas on how to make H5P better! With the H5P supporter program the H5P community can now vote for and fund the top voted H5P features. Also there are developers in the community who every now and then work on a feature they find interesting or useful.

Hi BV,

I will definitively promote H5P as much as I can. I still didn't go into the developer side - although I love development and I will definitively do it at some point.

Since I am here, I have a question about a potential feature, but I imagine it is extremely hard to implement: when I work on a collaborative text with H5P exercises, e.g. on a samepage.io page, me and my student can see in real time what the other is typing, but of course the content of the H5P exercise appears different on our screens, and I cannot see what s/he is doing with the exercise.

I now solve the problem by having my student sharing her own screen with me. Do you think there is any way in the future that you will be able to implement a way in which the teacher can see in real time what the student is doing with the exercise? I imagine it might be quite an API nightmare though...

all the best!

Hi Leonardo,

I won't say no but I don't think it will be available in the near future. Not unless someone from the community creates the feature and that would have to be reviewed/tested by the core team.

Hi Leonardo!

I don't think there's anything that the H5P core team can do here. Dropbox Paper doesn't seem to allow to use custom iframe, but has its own custom selector that adds contend from selected sites (e.g. Trello, instagram, etc.). It's up to Drobox Paper to add an option for H5P content.

Best,
Oliver

Hello Oliver!

indeed the decision to implement new features comes from polls, and unfortunately not many people other than designers appear to have yet discovered how useful Dropbox Paper is for so many professions!

I spent some time yesterday to prepare a new idea proposal about this on the Dropbox Paper forum, and I hope some people will get interested and vote it.

Meanwhile, the integration works perfectly with samepage.io, which provides pages that are very similar to Dropbox Paper pages, and allows more flexibility in the integration of external sources. As a matter of fact the functionalities in samepage.io are so amazing (integrated chat and video conference, calendar, file sharing - and the list goes on) that in my opinion it represent the perfect solution for one-to-one online lessons which rely on collaborative documents and interactive exercises - such as language teaching, in my case.

NB: I am in no way affiliated with Dropbox Paper or samepage.io. Just an enthousiastic user :O)

all the best!
