Interactive Youtube Video and Youtube TOS

Hello,

we want to use Interactive Video with Youtube as video source. I worked with Youtube Player Embed in the past and found that the Youtube TOS are quite restricting: "If you use the Embeddable Player on your website, you may not modify, build upon, or block any portion or functionality of the Embeddable Player, including but not limited to links back to the YouTube website." (4F on https://www.youtube.com/static?gl=US&template=terms )

So I wonder if the use of overlaying content on youtube videos is allowed?
Or are the Youtube TOS not relevant at this point, because H5P does not use the Embeddable Player??

Looking forward to your opinions

Best!
Bene

Hi Bene,

We found that it is very hard to imagine YouTube coming after us for the way we're using it, in the H5P open source project. But authors should take care not to put anything on top of their logo.

Hello,

I try to upload the youtube link for my video and everytime I try to play it on h5p to add interactions, it says video unavailable. Any way around this?

Hi Arthur,

Please make sure that your video is set to either 'Unlisted' or 'Public".

I'm late to this thread but my students were getting this message on Canvas. My video was 'unlisted' and I just now allowed embedding on the video itself. Please advise.

Hi gb4646,

The error message is coming from Youtube not H5P. I am no Youtube expert but there could be another setting that needs to be adjusted you might want to contact YT support for this.
