Wordpress plugin: insert media content from default WP upload directory or by URL

It would be so nice to be able to just paste an image URL into activities or, alternatively, be able to pick some existing image from the WP media gallery rather than having to upload.

I agree. Both media gallery integration and being able to paste in urls are features we plan to support. No eta for any of these yet though :/
