Scoring in Branching Scenarios

slwillis's picture

Is it possible to create a score system that is dependent on the number of attempts? Preferably, the points awarded decrease as the number of tries is increased.

When students are given the opportunity to restart or return, they have several chances to pick the correct response and earn full credit. Is the instructor aware of the number of tries made by the student?

Hi slwillis,

It is not possible for Branching Scenario score depending on the number of attempts, actually this is not possible for any content type.

Theoretically it is possible to see the number of attempts since everytime a student answers the content xAPI statements are generated and this is what an LRS uses to record the scores. I highly recommend looking through these documentation:

https://h5p.org/documentation/x-api

https://h5p.org/documentation/for-authors/analyzing-results-and-answers

If you are using H5P.com this is already available with the Drill Down Reports.

Are there resources that explain how scores from H5P content are shared with the LMS gradebook? I'm currently faculty at the University of Arizona and we're using H5P.com with D2L.
