What is happening with the OER Hub in Wordpress ?

Forums:

Hello !

Are there any news about the integration of the OER Hub in the H5P Wordpress plugin ? It has been 4 years maybe now and I have read that the code is ready (thanks Oliver Tacke !) : https://h5p.org/node/1312237. I don't understand the logic here : for several years, the OER Hub was a priority for the Core Team but now, it seems that its development is no longer in its scope - at least for the Wodpress users.

Any piece of information would be welcome :)

Isabelle

Brrr... it feels lonely here :D
Anyone who has information about this, feel free to share please : I would be greatful :)

Hi Isabelle,

Unfortunately, we don't have any updates for the hub. However, rest assured that it is still under development.

It's really a pity. The OER Hub is a great thing IMHO, and it could even play a strategic commercial role for D2L/H5P Group. But it feels abandoned.

I heard there might not be too many contents in there, resulting in low attraction (besides meaning extra publishing effort, the moodle plugin being less interesting than moodle's own integration which does not even feature the Hub client, ...). But without adding ways to use the H5P OER Hub, the number will hardly grow.

The integration of the H5P OER Hub would allow WordPress users to contribute easily. Its pull request has been updated recently to accomodate changes that were done to H5P core. Yet, it has been waiting to be reviewed for over two years now - for funding reasons or others.

It would be great if the H5P community received an update on what the plans for the H5P OER Hub and the H5P Hub client are (cmp. blog post from July, OMG, 2020: https://h5p.org/moodle-plugin-vs-moodle-core-vs-h5p-com).

I have a lot of content in my WordPress Site I would like to share but waiting for years for an update to H5P (that already exists).

So H5P: Give us the tool and you will get the content :-)

Indeed a pity, that was one of attractions for H5P in the H5P/Pressbooks Kitchen project I came on with in 2020. Besides the limits of platforms it eventually becamse available to, there was a bit of a circular problem of finding the incentive for creators to add their content, when there was not a vast pool of content in the Hub. It too seems to call for a potential laborius moderation layer? It feels a bit late.
