Are there are some plans to make the Virtual Tour activity usable for VR glasses?

Hi sarmyre,

As far I know the H5P core team does not have any plans in the near future for such feature. but thank you for contributing your ideas on how to make H5P better! With the H5P supporter program the H5P community can now vote for and fund the top voted H5P features. Also there are developers in the community who every now and then work on a feature they find interesting or useful. You can also help by developing or help (crowd) fund the development of this feature.

Hi there,

I'm quite keen to get the H5P Virtual Tour (360) working for VR so I thought I would see if there is any renewed interest. I tried a H5P Virtual Tour (360) on the Meta Oculus headset and could login to our moodle based LMS using the Oculus Browser and view the tour in cinematic mode (which is not bad) but couldn't get fully immersed in the 360 environment (see video here). There is a button to tell the system that it is 360 content, so should automatically sort out the dual eye perspective issues, without separately coding the H5P Virtual Tour (360). It seems like this is just an image issue. I upload the images as 360 images but they display out of the H5P Virtual Tour (360) as flat images so when the system tries to view them as 360 images they get distorted. I don't think that there is any way from a user perspective to ameliorate this (e.g. uploading a different image type) but I suspect that a small modification in the H5P code, such that it displays equirectangular images as an output would solve this issue and make it viewable in the Oculus Browser. Maybe I am over-simplifying the issue. Is there any interest in looking at an amendment to the H5P Virtual Tour (360) (or separate version) to enable playback on VR?

Hi Owen,

Unfortunately no, there are no plans in the near future for this feature. The good thing about H5P is that it is open sourced so you or someone else can develop or fund the development of the feature.

Hi Owen, we too are exploring how to turn our virtual tours into VR immersive content. Would love to chat. We do have a Wordpress powwred solution thatt does VR but hoping to build on the H5P. Also looking to add 360 images to branching scenarios.
