H5P, Pressbooks, and streamed videos

Hi Everyone,

I have a professor working on a joint session between the Canada Media Fund, DOCTalks and SSHRC for Congress this June. Their concept is to use an H5P branching scenario that will guide users through a series of videos to learn more about using documentary media for knowledge mobilization purposes.

Would Pressbooks be a good place to host this? The session will be live and synchronous but attendees will have the chance to engage with the videos at their own pace through the session for 15-20 minutes. SSHRC estimates that there could be up to 600 attendees. Will Pressbooks be able to handle that traffic?

While I know that he can embed videos into a Pressbooks book, I'm not at all sure about the H5P aspect as I'm an H5P neophyte. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank-you!

Sincerely,
Cynthia

Hi Cynthia,

Everything will depend on the server's capacity. I do not know if there is an H5P plugin for Pressbook however H5P can be embed in most CMS platforms since it has a built in embed feature that generates the embed code. This code can be inserted anywhere that allows rich text as well as iFrame embeds.
