Bien cordialement,

Stéphanie

"Hello,

I have inserted the "Structure strip" content into a Moodle course.

Students can use the activity, ie write their text in the strips but cannot save their text. Is this normal? Does this option exist?

I see that a student can copy their text using the "copy" button to paste it elsewhere. But can he save it in moodle in order to come back to it whenever he wants and allow the teacher to read his work? I have the impression that there is also no follow-up of possible attempts. Can you help me ? I may not have configured the activity correctly.

Best regards,

Stephanie"

Hi Stephanie!

The text is stored automatically if the respective H5P integration supports that feature ("save content state") and it is activated. When a student returns to his/her content, and try again, the text will be restored.

The H5P plugin for moodle (black H5P icon) has that feature, but an admin needs to activate it in the plugin settings. Moodle's own custom H5P integration (blue H5P icon, content bank) does not offer that feature.

Best,
Oliver

Bonjour Olivier,

Cordialement,

Stéphanie

"Hello Oliver,

Thank you for your reply. We have the blue H5P icon with the Content Bank. It is therefore unfortunately not possible to save the state of the content.

Is the choice of installing one or the other H5P plugin (black icon or blue icon? ) related to the version of Moodle we have?

I thank you in advance.

Cordially,

Stephanie"

Hi Stephanie!

The black H5P icon indicates that H5P is included via the H5P plugin for moodle that was created by the H5P core team.

The blue H5P icon indicates that you are using H5P via moodle's own custom integration that was created later on. It has been included in moodle automatically since version 3.8. It is part of moodle's core, not a plugin.

Both have certain advantages and disadvantages, see https://moodle.org/mod/forum/discuss.php?d=408251 for instance.

You can use both. You can install the plugin as well. But please note that these are two absolutely independent integrations that do not share any files. While the content types are exactly the same, the handling inside of moodle is different. You will, for instance, have to update libraries for each solution and editing and providing content works differently.

Best,

Oliver
