Text to be replaced by drag and drop

Our company is building H5P packages intended to train learners on how to improve their English skills. One of the content types they'd like us to build is one where the learner sees a series of sentences with some areas of the text surrounded by drag-and-drop targets and a set of replacement phrases to choose from. The idea is that they replace some language in the text block (Hey, how ya doin'!) with more appropriate language for the situation (Good morning, sir!). Right now we have the ability to define the draggable text by surrounding the phrase with asterisks. We can also add hints, correct and incorrect feedback, and additional correct answers using special characters within those asterisks. Would it be possible to use another special character like a pipe | or bracket { to indicate the text that is shown within the target that is going to be replaced when the draggable is dropped on top of it?

Something like this?

Good idea but not exactly what we're looking for. The goal is for the learner to drag and drop the more appropriate phrase on top of the "Hey, how ya doin'!"

That's what we can do today. What I'm looking for is a way to put custom text into those blue drag-and-drop targets prior to them being filled by the droppable.
