fill out the table

Dear H5P developers

I am desperately looking for a way to make a table with categories in which students have to add (write) information (import through Excel would be easy). I have been looking for solutions within H5P, but haven't found any so far. If you already have one,  please do let me know.

If not, I think this new feature would be really interesting for many of my language (& other) teachers. I heared many of them looking for the same kind of application.

I enclose a small example, for your information.

Looking forward to your reply!

Tania D.

Hi Tania!

Something like this has been requested by many, but so far, the H5P core team does not seem to have found the resources to create something like this. As far as I know, they also do not have any near-term plans to add this feature. BV may correct me on that.

Also, despite the many requests and despite the open source nature of H5P, nobody seems to have been willing to either spend his/her free time to contribute such a content type, nor has anyone been trying to fund this in order to sponsor development by a 3rd party. That's something anyone could do.

Cheers,
Oliver

Hi Oliver,

Unfortunately you are correct. There are no plans to add this feature this year or early next year.

It's very disappointing that such vital feature is constantly ignored while time and effort had been spent on so many activity types that don't even seem to be practical for anything. This is a game changing feature as they would be able to design listening tests like the ones used in official English tests.

I'd like to just repeat what I wrote before: Despite the many requests and despite the open source nature of H5P, nobody seems to have been willing to either spend his/her free time to contribute such a content type, nor has anyone been trying to fund this in order to sponsor development by a 3rd party.

It's also very disappointing when people seem to not want to take initiative but expect others to do it for them.

I'm not sure this is exactly what the OP (Tania) and ArmanSadeghi want, but you could do this with the Complex fill the blanks H5P activity.

This is EXACTLY what I was looking for! Thank you very much for sharing this!

I just tested the feature and it actually works.

Some suggestions perhaps:

  • Maybe it would be interesting to actually consider this a separate feature, f.i. 'Fill in the table'.
  • Or at least provide an example with some extra explanation... ('how do the correct answers relate to the empty spaces?')
  • And last but not least: wouldn't it be wonderful if we could copy an exercise from Excel?

BUT: I am happy already!

YEP, this is EXACTLY what I was looking for! Thank you very much for sharing this!

I just tested the feature. It seems to work!

Suggestions:

  • It might be interesting though to show a table example to the users... and some specific info as to 'How do the correct answers relate to the empty spaces?'
  • Maybe it's a good idea to separate this feature as 'fill in the table'
  • And ... last but not least: how wonderful would it be if we could import an excercise from Excel :)

But I am very happy already!
