MPEG-Dash and HLS support
Modern Streaming formats (MPEG-Dash, HLS) should be supported by H5P Video. There already have been several other requests for this, e.g.:
- PR for HLS support (unfortunately combined with an unrelated other feature): https://github.com/h5p/h5p-video/pull/66
- An issue from 2017(!): https://github.com/h5p/h5p-interactive-video/issues/70
- One year old request here in the forum: https://h5p.org/node/1347653
A fork of h5p-video has (allegedly) implemented MPEG-Dash support already in 2018: https://github.com/nadavkav/h5p-video/commit/73c40ef40b926eb59302f58ce0f...
We do not know where exactly to address this request (h5p-video or any other sub-repo, h5p-core...?), and what exactly would be necessary to implement this feature. But the necessity for the support of modern streaming formats seems to be evident. Our background is not H5P development, we are running a rather huge portal for academic videos (https://av.tib.eu/) and receive a lot of requests from users who would like to integrate our videos in their H5P based learning contents.
Does the core team plan to work on this? Do you have any hints where to ask for this more appropriately? Or do we have overseen anything?
best regards
