Migrate from WordPress to a Non WordPress Site

Hi all,

First of all, H5P is amazing! I've been looking for something like this for a long time. Thank you to everyone contributing out there.

We're planning on using H5P on our project (www.linguaplex.com) which is a custom site and would use a standalone H5P install. But while development is happening there, we will also be building and using H5P on a WordPress website.

Eventually, we'll want to migrate all of the H5P content from the WordPress instance to the non-WordPress based site. Is that possible by simply downloading the H5P files from the WordPress install and importing them? What issues should I look out for?

Thanks in advance,

- Roger

Hi Roger,

There are a few things you should think of:

  • The H5P editor (for creating h5ps) is currently only available on WordPress, Drupal and Moodle.
  • You can show h5ps on any site using the embed option (uses iframes)
  • It's pretty easy to write a simple h5p viewer for any platform if you don't want to use iframes to embed. A .h5p file is just a zipped directory with html/js/css.

Good luck with your project!
