Audio in quiz questions

How can I add questions in H5P where the user has to listen to an audio file then answer multiple choice or gap fill, based on what they heard? This is the feature I need the most as I have an English language learning website.

You may do this with Coursepresentation.

See CoursePresentation with audio and questions in action in our January release note.

I was lookingfor some solution on how to add audio to a PPT/Doc/Pdf file which is uploaded. Can we do this on each of the slides/frames set for each page of the ppt/pdf/doc

A single choice quiz with one audio file to listen before answering for each question,

Useful for language comprehension test, or music test. Thank you !

hi have you got anything like this to add audio to the questions and all the options in all content types as this helps ion making the assessment eligble to all physically challenged students also ....

Hello, tdnshah! Currently, this isn't possible, but it's a really great idea. The questions and options do have readspeaker support, but this will only read the option text.

One should be aware that hearing impaired or people with bad hearing might not be as thrilled about such exercies.

Thank you for asking.

You can save your audio as a video with a background image (I use openshot Video editor - open source) and then use interactive video to write a full quiz with many more question types. You can also add them after the specific listening component.

Thanks Verzog, that's really helpful

I would love to see the integration of an audio player as an option within Quiz (Question Set).

For Multiple Choice, it might look something like this:

And for Drag Text and Drag and Drop, I'd like to see "add media" included as an option...something like :

Hi grackle!

For many content types (like Multiple Choice), this becomes super easy once the pull request at https://github.com/h5p/h5p-question/pull/4 is dealt with again - unfortunately, it didn't get attention for quite a while.

For Drag Text, the code for the media section has been added in the pull request at https://github.com/h5p/h5p-drag-text/pull/65.

For Mark the Words: https://github.com/h5p/h5p-mark-the-words/pull/61.

For Drag and Drop: Should in theory be roughly the same amount of work, but will require some extra attention for the full screen mode.

With so many pull requests hanging in the air (that need updating from time to time when translations change, etc.), I am a little reluctant to put even more onto the todo pile of the H5P core team. They are busy finishing the H5P OER Hub and probably won't have the time to have a look at contributions before they have finished that huge job.

Best,

Oliver

Thanks for the quick reply Oliver...and I totally understand.  The OER Hub is such a massive (and awesome!) undertaking...I'm sure there are a million and one things that need to get done.  Whenever the "add audio" thing makes it to the top of the list will be great.  My situation right now is working on the transition from Moodle to BrightSpace and the integration of H5P.com in this new environment.  I work with language instructors so audio is an integral part...and we are hoping to use the Quiz (Question Set) to meet some of our summative quiz needs.

Hi grackle!

Please don't tell me, but the H5P core team. I am just an external contributor who is not affiliated with them.

Best,
Oliver

Hi All,

Once the OER hub is released the plan is review, test and release the pending PRs. Which PRs I have no idea, at least not until the hub has been released.

Hi Gogovetta!

Some content types allow to add some audio as introduction, e.g. Sort the Paragraphs. A couple of other content types are supposed to receive that option soon.

Best,
Oliver
