HELP! Empty Page Upon Clicking the Create Button (maybe because of changed -define( 'WP_CONTENT_DIR')) ?

Hello,

thank you for the wonderful H5P plugin!

We are an educational website devoted to language learning. We really like your amazing plugin and cannot see our further development without it.

However, there is a problem. Since its creation our website has had a changed WP_CONTENT directory. We changed it through:

define( 'WP_CONTENT_DIR')
define( 'WP_CONTENT_URL')

Because of this change, I think, we have a problem. We have observed the following:

- Install H5P - OK
- Install all add-ons - OK
- Settings - OK

- We click Add New, then we name it, choose the quiz type (for example, Dialogue Cards), do the whole procedure of creating the quiz, add an image from Computer (we see the thumbnail), then click Create and then see NOTHING. And when we put the shortcode on a page, we also see NOTHING.

Could it be connected with our changed WP_CONTENT directory? If yes, what should we do?

We are NOT exactly programmers, and we don't have a programmer we could ask this question, so we would appreciate your detailed answer.

We really want to use your plugin to create engaging quizzes for our students, so we are very upset about the problem mentioned.

THANK YOU.

Hi,

This should work and I've tested it by renaming the wp-content folder to my-content, though there might be some combination here that doesn't work, e.g. using another domain. Do you think you could be a bit more specific about where the new URL and DIR are relative to the original one? (Without compromising your domain of course.)

Here is what I think you should try:

  1. Double check that you're running the latest plugin version; 1.9.1
  2. Open your browser's console (Ctrl+Shift+J in Chrome) and see if there are any URLs that fail to load. If so, you should double check the URL and that the file permissions are correct.

Hello,

Many thanks for your advice!

In fact, the Google Chrome tool showed a problem with HTTPS. I solved this problem, and the content started loading.
However, there is one more error in one library (I attach the screenshot).
In general, the problem is solved except for this little error. I don't know if it impacts anything, but now everything seems to be working fine.

I can't thank you enough for your help! I will put a dofollow link to your website when my website is filled with the cool content made with H5P.

I also have a new feature request:
Because I think that serious educational resources won't limit themselves to 10-20 quizzes, there will be hundreds and thousands of them on one single website. So, webmasters will face a problem of administration of all these quizzes. My suggestion is to group quizzes by folders with a subfolder tree (like here:

https://codecanyon.net/item/wordpress-real-category-management-custom-ca...

https://codecanyon.net/item/wordpress-real-media-library-media-categorie...)

Also, now it's not possible to use one and the same picture multiple times. I have to load it each time I create a quiz, and it takes up too much space.

There is no possibility to choose a media item from the WordPress library (pictures, in particular). I understand that it is done because it allows to download a ready quiz and transfer it to another website, but it would be great to have an alternative.

Also, it would be great to have filters by date of creation, by tags, etc. and bulk delete and edit features (with checkboxes).

Thank you once again. You've done a marvelous job helping learners from all over the world!

Thank you for the kind words and the feedback.

Improving the handling of a lot of content is already on our list. The current 'tags' system was sort of a quick fix to help deal with this. I know some people also use naming schemes for their content titles. Though, these only help to keep the order and doesn't allow for bulk changes to lots of content at the same time. I hope this is something we'll be seeing in a future not too distant.

The reuse of images is also something we've looked into, but it's a bigger job so it will have to wait until we've finished up features that have been requested more. Also, space has gotten quite cheap on the web in the later years.

Hi

Is it now posible to create bulk content ?

I need to publish one hundred of activities hierarchically organized ...

thanks for the information.

Hi Phil,

Unfortunately, no progress has been made on this part of the plugin, yet.
