last update crashed wp

An update available last Friday (Nov. 2, 2018) that said to be 100% compatible in my wp (version 4.9.8) crashed my access to my wp account. The same occurred again today after the webhost gave me access back to wp. H5P version 1.11.0

See screenshot of message after crash each time I try to active H5P plugin again - Please help! Thanks a lot

Hi Yolaine,

I created a bug report for this and you follow the progress here.

Thanks a lot BV52! Maybe I should add that for the moment the only way I can keep on accessing my wp account and dashboard is by keeping H5P plugin deactivated. This means that the quizzes I integrated in some of my blog articles are no longer available to my readers... :(

It sounds like you're missing some files or the web server isn't allowed to access them. Please ensure that the wp-content/plugins/h5p/admin/class-h5p-plugin-admin.php file exists and that the permissions allow for the web server to read it.

If the file is missing, try downloading the plugin again and replace the old folder.

Thanks for your reply. I am attaching a screenshot to show you what appears on the php files. It all looks ok: file is there and authorizations are there too. Please help!

Did you try to download the plugin's .zip file unpack it, delete the existing h5p folder and then upload the unpacked one? Do you still get the same error?

Note that the paths are different in the last screenshot you provided compared to the first(error message), are you sure that you're in the correct place?

Hi, thank you very much for your reply. I haven't yet because before I delete the existing plugin in wp, I would like to know if it means loosing the data, i.e. the quizzes I built within H5P plugin in wp?

FYI, I saw this morning there's an update to version 1.11.2 so I tried to update to that one but got this message (see screenshot).

Thanks for your precious help

Hi Yolaine,

Yes you will not unless you back up the files. In WordPress, the files of content and content libraries can be retrieved from the respective folders in .../wp-content/uploads/h5p.

HI again, I have saved the existing files following the thread you gave me. However, the existing plugin fails to delete. I keep on getting "deleting..." but nothing happens. Now I don't know what to do to be able to remove this one before I can re-upload your plugin again :o

Hi Yolaine,

Do you see any error messages in the browser console? Can you also check if you have any PHP errors

-BV52

Hi BV52, Thanks but (unfortunately?) not. I don't get any error message. It says "deleting..." but gets stuck there. If I change pages and come back to the plugin page, the plugin is still there with the option to delete.

I don't have access to PHP errors

Just to keep you updated, what a relief today when I tried updating to version 1.11.3 and managed to then re-activate the plugin and... it is all working fine again at last! Big relief! :)

I'm glad it's working for you now.
