H5P module for easy animations

For technical training purposes you can make quite easy "animations" by just making a "multi layer presentation" of more than than one image. This can be used for such things like showing "different states" of technical equiment.

As an excample, I have made one Flash animation/presentation that shows two states of an elecrical relay here:

And here a control cirquit diagram for a heat pump:
http://elektrofag.info/animate/styrestrom-1/

What is done is actually only to have a multi layer presentation and then switch between "pictures" (on vector format) that lays on top of each other. For technical traning purposes this simpele "animation" works quite well, espesially when used together with an electronic blackboard. (You can "push the buttons" direct on the blackboard and students will see what happen.)

The "animation" is as simple as it can be only with visible or not visible pictures in a stack of layers. (actually different frames at the Flash Pro timeline, I guess it is like that it works.) If "someone" were willing to pay for the development, would it be possible to make a H5P module that could do the same? (So it can be viewed/used in iPads and etc.)

This module could also be used for different other purposes, like for instance showing first a man with the cloths on. Then you can remove the clothes, then the skin and look into the skeleton, then all the different "internal parts" etc. Different technical equipment could also be "teared down" like first a car, then the engine, then inside the engine and so on.

This is definitly something that would fit well as a new H5P Content Type.

I work in Joubel (the inventors of H5P), and we are offering professional H5P-services. Creating new H5P content types are one of the services we provide. If you find someone willing to sponsor this content-type, just get in touch!

Is it possible to use Courfse Presentation or another H5P module to time slides in a Presentation for "animation" effects...?

Like a countdown timer, for example..

Thank you!

Hi jlove,

This is not possible yet due to the fact that there isn't a built in timer in the H5P contents. However I believe this is a great idea and if you don't mined creating a separate post in the Feature Request forum. In order for your feature request to attract as much interest as possible make sure it follows the below guidelines:

  1. It is clear from every perspective how the feature will work. We recommend describing the feature with one or more user stories, for instance “As an author I want it to be possible to pick between different effects for the check answer animation so that the learners will see a variety of effects and also I can adapt the effects to my target audience(I’ll be using pink unicorns which works really well for both my target audience which are 4 year old girls and venture capitalists)”

  2. If the feature can be illustrated with images or videos it always helps

  3. Make it clear what content types this is relevant for, and or if this is a new content type

Make sure you post the feature in the Feature Request forum.
