Drupal 7 H5P module install missing a folder

Forums:

I"ve been using H5P on Drupal 7 on my local computer for development for a number of years without problems. Recently I had to re-install it and found a bug in the install process.
PHP Version 7.4.8 / Windows 10 / H5P version 7.x-1.46 for Drupal 7

On a brand-new installation of the H5P module, I kept failing to upload example files from the H5P site, with a cryptic error message: Service unavailable (with message) (500). In my Drupal logs I had this message: Exception: unabletocopy in H5PDefaultStorage::copyFileTree() (line 505 of C:\xampp\htdocs\drupal7\sites\all\modules\h5p\library\h5p-default-storage.class.php).

Upon further investigation I discovered that there was a missing folder here: C:\xampp\htdocs\drupal7\sites\default\files\h5peditor\ It seems that the h5peditor folder, with its /audio and /images sub-folders is not created upon install!

I created those folder & subfolders "by hand" and then all worked as expected.

This is a serious bug. Of course I doubt that there are many H5P users/developers currently installing H5P on a Drupal 7 site, but...

By the way, Drupal 7 is getting old nowadays and will reach end-of-life in November of 2022. That's 2 years away, but are there plans to make a development feature available in Drupal 8 (or, why not Drupal 9) in the interval?

Hi all!

I just checked. In installed drupal 7.82, installed H5P 1.49 from the official sources via https://ftp.drupal.org/files/projects/h5p-7.x-1.49.tar.gz and enabled the H5P module and the H5P Editor module - and I cannot encounter any issues.

Best,
Oliver

Hi Oliver, thanks for testing. Are you positive that the h5peditor folder, with its /audio and /images sub-folders has been created in the yoursite/drupal7\sites\default\files\ folder?

That is different from the folder at yoursite / drupal7 > sites > all > modules > h5p > modules > h5peditor >

As I reported in my orignal post, if the h5peditor folder, with its /audio and /images sub-folders is missing from the yoursite/drupal7\sites\default\files\ folder, then it's not possible to insert images, etc. in H5P contents.

The only solution I have found is to create those missing folders "by hand". Can you confirm, please?

Hi Papi Jo!

Yes, I am sure :-D Everything is working nicely and is where it's supposed to be.
