Combination of Fill-in-the-blanks and Image Hotspots

Hey there!

In the fill in the blanks tutorial (https://h5p.org/tutorial-fill-in-the-blanks, minute: 0.29), it says it is possible to integrate a fill-in-the-blanks exercise within the image hotspots application.

Unfortunately, I am struggling to do this. Anybody here who knows how it works?

Thank you!

Hi antonia55555,
This understanding is wrong in my opinion. Imho you cannot mix the different types of queries. Either only cloze sets or hotspot, but not one in the other.

Hi!

I've had a look at the video, but it doesn't say that Fill in the Blanks could be used in Image Hotspots. I assume you're referring to the video footage, but it's showing Interactive Video (see the player bar?) and not Image Hotspots - and Fill in the Blanks can in fact be used inside the former.

Best,

Hello Otacke,
Was I wrong about not being able to mix both types of content? That's how I understood the initiator of the post. I am still exploring the possibilities of H5P.

I don't think you're wrong. You cannot include Fill in the Blanks in Image Hotspots (that's what you mean by mix both). But you can include Fill in the Blanks in Interactive Video and set the interaction to pop up as a button which resembles Image Hotspots.

Hi Oliver,

Thanks for clarification. Then it's more a problem of the design of the popups I guess.

Yes exactly, I was referring to what was shown in the video and thought it showed the Image Hotspots. Thank you for the clarification! I will try using the Interactive Video instead! :)

You're welcome!

In theory it is possible to use more content types in Image Hotspots. It requires a little coding in some cases to rule out sizing issues - done this before in a customization for a client - but the H5P core team would need to consent the new code and they currently have at least 100 code contributions from others left to check, so I wouldn't bet this feature would make it into the official version any time soon.

Best,

Oliver
