Save feature in documentation content type

Forums:
Hello,
An academic at my institution has asked if it's possible for students to save their responses in the documentation tool so they can complete it over a number of sessions, rather than having to complete it all in one go. As far as i can tell, this is not possible so I'd like to request it as a feature. I think other content types do allow this. The scenario would be:
- Student opens documentation content type (in our case, in Moodle) and starts to complete it.
- Anything entered on the form would be autosaved at a set interval. A message would alert students this is happening.
- If the student does not complete all fields in one session, anything they entered would be visibile and editable if they open the documentation tool again.
- If/when the stundent does complete all the fields, they will be able to view and eidt them while the documentation tool is available.
Thanks for considering this - we appreciate all the work you do on H5P

Hi Simon!
That feature has already be added to Documentation Tool, but the H5P core team will need to release an update.
Best,
Oliver

User (student) Data - Save feature
That's really useful feature. Thank you
I have a question regarding user data:
Where does it save user (student) data while they complete a document over a number of sessions? I assume it wouldn't be local cookies. Thank you

No. The core of H5P does not
No. The core of H5P does not set or read cookies at all. The data will be stored on the server (environment) that is serving the content.

Any updates?
Hi, what Simon has outlined above is exactly what we are looking for too. I was wondering if there is an update on this? Will the core team be releasing an update soon?
Thanks,
Maria

Thanks Oliver - just in case others have trouble activating the feature too, here's how you can do it: go to the LTI tab, and then check "allow logged in users to resume content"
Thanks so much for this feature!

Hi saehtam73,
Thank you! Just to add to this, the setting you mentioned is for H5P.com customers with Drill Down Reports enabled in their license. If this is not enabled customers can reach out to the Customer Success team by sending an email to [email protected].
On the other hand if you are using the plugins this feature is called "Save Content State" and can be enabled in the settings.

One more thing...
Just another thing I've learned re: this feature: according to this page (Content Resume -H5P), account administrators can select how the feature is activated i.e. always/never/by author - on by default/by author-off by default. Thanks again - really pleased with this feature. Maria
