Documentation Tool- Submit not Working in Canvas

I am using the documentation tool in Canvas, and I've been unable to get the Submit button to do anything. I would expect that after a student fills out the document and hits "Submit", their document would be submitted for the instructor to review. When I hit submit, it does say "Your report was submitted successfully", but it doesn't send anything to the gradebook.

Steps to reproduce the bug:

1. Create Document Tool activity on h5p.com, including an export document page

2. Add the Documentation Tool activity to Canvas as an assignment, using the "External Tool" submission type.

3. Complete the assignment in "student view", click Create Document, and then click Submit (also had a coworker complete the assignment with their account)

4. Check the gradebook through the Grades tab and Speedgrader.

Is there a way to fix this issue? Or can the submit button be removed? It's misleading to have it there if it doesn't do anything, especially because it indicates that something has been submitted when it's clicked.

Hi mlayne120,

The documentation tool does not send any scores or answers to Canvas. Instead it saves those answers within H5P.com. To be able to save the answers you need to have Drill down reports included in your license. I do not have account specific information so I account check if this is included in your license. I suggest that you reach out to the Customer Success team to check for you and provide more details. You can reach them by sending an email to [email protected].
