YouTube videos suddenly stopped showing in H5P Interactive Video

Hello,

I am experiencing a problem with H5P Interactive Video on H5P.org.

I have created approximately 30 Interactive Video activities using YouTube videos. The videos were working normally last week, but now several of them no longer appear in H5P.

I have tested five different Interactive Video activities, including videos that were definitely working previously. None of the five videos is currently displayed.

The important points are:

  • The YouTube videos themselves play normally on YouTube.
  • The H5P activities were working last week.
  • I have not intentionally changed the H5P content.
  • The problem occurs with several different YouTube videos, not just one.
  • The videos do not appear for me in H5P.
  • The videos also do not appear for my students.
  • I tried replacing one of the YouTube URLs with the direct URL, without additional parameters, but the video still did not appear.
  • The problem therefore does not seem to be related to one particular YouTube video or to the URL format.

One example of a video that does not appear in H5P is:

Could this be a current problem with YouTube playback in H5P Interactive Video on H5P.org?

I would really appreciate any advice on how to diagnose this. I have 30 videos already created, so I would very much like to avoid recreating or manually modifying them unless that is actually necessary.

 

I have now confirmed that this affects at least five different Interactive Video activities. They all worked last week, but none of them currently displays the video. The problem also affects my students. The videos are hosted on YouTube and play normally there.

Has there been an update that causes this problem?

Hi Pauska,

If you are still encountering this issue and you are self-hosting your contents please make sure that you are using the latest version of Interactive Video.

On the other hand if you are hosting your contents in H5P.com please provide the URL of the content so that we can check.

Hello, we kinda have the same problem here, where the youtube videos suddenly stopped showing up on H5P... It works fine with Vimeo but any youtube link doesn't work, and all our videos are hosted on youtube in our trainings...

What is the platform that you are using (Wordpress, Drupal, Moodle or somthing else)? What is the version of Interactive Video and Interactive Book?

Good Morning! We are having exactly the same problem on two Moodle platforms that we run. Both have H5P Interactive videos and now both have sound but no picture for all the videos. Using the latest version of Interactive video.

Hi,

Can you please make sure that all the contents are using the latest version of Interactive Video. You can go to Site administration -> Plugins -> H5P -> H5P libraries and then click on "upgrade library contents" under "action" for Interactive Videos. Please note that these steps are for the H5P plugin provide by the H5P core team (black H5P icon). I do not know how this is done with the built-in H5P plugin in Moodle.

There is a scheduled task (h5p_get_content_types_task) that runs on every first of the month by default and updates all content types, so hopefully this stupid flood of the same question over and over again ends now. You can run that task manually, too.

Thanks for the reply - yes we have done that - we use the H5P plugin but the steps have been followed. Unfortunately, the problem is still there. I'd be grateful for any suggestions!
