Textbox collapses during editing

I know this is a known issue, but there seems to be no solution at the moment, I am writing this post with more information about the bug, and hope that there is a fix.

I use H5P in Moodle, and when I edit an "interactive book", the texbox collapses on itself regularly. (see attached picture)

It happens with any interactive book, and is easy to reproduce :

- I start to edit a "Text" content type

- I change one of the following : boldness, italic, heading type... Any of the formatting tools.

- I select another "text" content type, usually on another page.

- The textbox collapses immediatly after clicking on it.

It is a recurrent issue, I know when it happens and it is really tiresome. The "easy" solution is to save the file and to open it again, which is cumbersome since I have to do it every other page.

I have found another fix on the forum, which is to clean the browser cache, but it is no better than the easy fix.

Here are the caracteristics of my platform :

- Moodle 4.0.3 (Build : 20220822)

- Desktop

- Browser : Chrome, but it also happens with Firefox

Version of H5P (I use the version that comes with Moodle 4):

- mod_h5pactivity : 2022041900

- contenttype_h5p : 2022041900

- h5plib_v124 :  2022041900

For the Interactive book, three versions are listed : 1.3.5 ; 1.5.1 and 1.6.3. But the problem happens with other H5P format.

-Browser console errors :

jquery.js?ver=1662372699:2 Allow attribute will take precedence over 'allowfullscreen'.

attr @ jquery.js?ver=1662372699:2

Échec du chargement de la carte source par les Outils de développement : Impossible de charger le contenu de chrome-extension://gighmmpiobklfepjocnamgkkbiglidom/browser-polyfill.js.map : Erreur système: net::ERR_FILE_NOT_FOUND

(Sorry, it is in French and I have no idea how to change that. It says there is an error loading the source card by the developpers' tools : can't load the content of chrome-extension://gighmmpiobklfepjocnamgkkbiglidom/browser-polyfill.js.map : Erreur système: net::ERR_FILE_NOT_FOUND )

-No PHP errors to report

There has been no recent change on my Moodle besides the regular updates...

Thank you for your help,

I can provide more details to further my request.

Hi!

I think I mentioned this on another post already: It seems that this is an issue with moodle's custom H5P integration (as in your case, too) that was not created by the H5P core team but by the moodle team. Thus said, it would be best to reach out to the moodle team on the moodle forums or on moodle's bug tracker.

Could also be related to some theme code or server condiguration though, as I cannot reproduce the problem on https://sandbox.moodledemo.net/. There's no hint to any problem in the console output that you posted.

Cheers,
Oliver

Would it be possible to consider creating the interactive book in lumi and then uploading it to your moodle when it is finished?

Edit: Yes, it was clear that I was replying to the wrong post. Should go to thibaultasaf.

Hi thibaultasaf,

you could try lumi to create your book and load up to your moodle.
