How does the personality quiz determine final result?

I have an issue with the personality quiz, but I can't tell if it's because there is a bug in the quiz or because I don't understand how it works.

I created a 12-question personality quiz that could result 3 personality types: anxious, not anxious, or mixed feelings.

As I was testing the quiz, I noticed that the results I got didn't seem to make sense. Essentially, if I answer 12 out of 12 questions with answers that point to one personality type (for example, anxious), it will give me that personality type as a result, which makes sense. If I answer 11 out of 12 questions with answers that point to one personality type (e.g. anxious), it will give me another personality type as a result (e.g. not anxious).

I thought that the final result was a simple majority, determined by which personality type received the most responses. This test suggests otherwise.

Is this a problem with the personality quiz or should I be setting up my questions differently?

Hi Cecile,

You are correct with your assumption that Personality Quiz provides results based on majority. Although it sounds simple enough it is a bit tricky on how to set it up. If you can provide your content here we may be able to find out what is causing the incorrect results. If you could also provide a sample pattern of the answers that provide the undesired result that would make it easier :-)

Hello! Thanks so much for your quick reply.

I downloaded the personality quiz and added the file to this comment.

Any feedback you have is appreciated.

Hi Cecile,

Sorry for the delayed response.

The reason why it is showing the result is that one of the personality name has a comma. The comma is used as a separator for different personalities in a certain question. Since we have a comma in one of them the content is treating those answers as 2 possible personalities. I have edited your content and you can download it here.

Excellent, thank you so much for your help! That seems to have fixed things.

One final question -- are commas the only characters we should avoid adding in the personality name or are there others?

Hi Cecile,

You are welcome! Someone else from the community found out that hypens will also cause the same issue. Here's the link to the conversation.

That is good to know. I will keep it in mind for future personality quizzes.

Thanks so much for your help!
