Remove old content types from Moodle

Hello there, I was wondering if any of you knew how to remove content types previously installed in Moodle.

I haven't found any option to do so from Moodle itself, and I was wondering whether it could be done from the server or someplace else.

The question arose when one of my teachers noted that some of the content types we have are not listed here anymore: https://h5p.org/content-types-and-applications

Does that mean that they won't work properly anymore?

As a side note, I've tried updating the plugin to the latest version (which I could do without any trouble), but the content types that are not listed in the link I provided remained there.

Any help will be greatly appreciated!

Hi Álvaro,

The contents that are not in the list doesn't mean you can't use them. In most cases they are removed since development has been stopped for these cotnent types. But appear.in and Twitter user feed won't work anymore since the source has stopped supporting the API that makes these contents work.

Hey BV52, thanks for your answer! That's great to know.

Do you also happen to know how to remove content types previously installed in Moodle?

Thanks again!

Hi, unfortunately there is no removal of content types implemented in the H5P plugin for Moodle. There's an issue for fixing this in the H5P issue tracker where you can follow along the progress of when it will be prioritized and implemented: https://h5ptechnology.atlassian.net/browse/HFP-2168

Hi again. Are there any news regarding this bug? We still need to remove obsolete content types.

I don't see the ticket having undergone any changes. Can we vote for this somewhere, so that it gains traction?

Thanks!

Hi Alvaro,

I'm afraid we do not have any updates for this. In terms of voting there is an option to vote in the bug report if you are logged in.

Hi Alvaro and BV52,

From Moodle 3.9 onwards admins can remove H5P content types and libraries in Site administration > H5P > Manage H5P content types. They can also upload new content types manually. That feature might help you.

Thanks for the tip Amaia!

Hi..... I was able to remove a content type from Moodle 3.9 (in Site administration > H5P > Manage H5P content types) -- the Twitter User Feed content type. But the next time the scheduled task ran that downloads h5p content types (\core\task\h5p_get_content_types_task), it downloaded the Twitter User Feed content type again. This isn't helpful. Perhaps there's something I'm missing, but it want to prevent this content type from re-downloading to my site. Any ideas?  Thanks much... Brian

Thanks so much Amaia and everyone that contributed, I'm quite grateful for your answers/guidance. It's also great to know we can do this in 3.9 onwards. Have a nice day,

Álvaro
