Essay content type doesn't work with scandic letters

Hi!

I am trying to create essay content type. Occasionally it works but most of the times it doesn't. At least one problem lie in scandic letters and * wildcard. I can't get words for example "män*" and "lep*" to work properly.

I have the latest wordpress 5.2.2. and the Finnish version. I haven't tried this content type on mobile, but desktop doesn't work. I have tried with Firefox, Chrome and IE. Edge found "män*" but not "lep*" and I think Firefox did so also few times. None of the browsers have found "lep*". I have the newest plugin version 1.14.1., since the Finnish translation had a bug and you fixed it really quickly :) - thank you for that!

You can see the content type on this page :

http://xxxxxx

It is at the bottom of the page. The site is on development stage, so it is not a public site or page yet. The keyword I looking for are:
- män*
- kuus*
- lep*
- haa*
- koivu*

Case sensitive not required.

I hope this is enough information for you!

Thank you again in advance,

Susanna

Hi Susanna!

You're correct, Essay so far only supports latin characters. Will be fixed instantly.

Best,
Oliver

Hi Susanna!

Aaaand fixed, including greek chars, kyrillic, etc. Interesting that this bug went unnoticed for so long.

The fix should be available with the next release, but I don't know when the core team will come around to it (some changes to the reporting module still need to be checked).

Cheers,
Oliver

So will this fix be come into use when new plugin update is relased?

Hi Susanna,

Once the core team has reviewed and tested the changes it will be released as an update. However I cannot provide a timeline when this will happen. I created a task in our public board to help you track the changes.

@Ollie thanks for the update!

Hi BV!

Feel free to link that one to HFP-1879 and the two pull requests mentioned in there, https://github.com/h5p/h5p-php-report/pull/3 and https://github.com/h5p/h5p-php-report/pull/4 (couldn't find a ticket for those; hope they're not forgotten as they also block HFP-2810).

Cheers,
Oliver

Done!

I don't think it has been forgotten since this content type has its fair share of users and the PR is still open :-)
