Interactive Video - submit screen not showing up

jbryant3@mt.gov's picture

Hello,

We use a lot interactive videos on my Moodle site and didn't have this issue until recently. We have added the submit screen in the settings and there is at least one question in the video (sometimes more - a variety of types). When I test, the submit screen shows up but it isn't showing up for participants.

Is anyone else seeing this or is there a new setting that I'm missing? I have even tried moving the submit screen to different times.

If it matters, we don't use the Summary Task - but we never have and the submit screen worked before.

We are on Moodle 3.7, Windows, and I've tested this in both Chrome and Firefox.

Thank you in advance for any help!

Jess

Hi Jess,

I am unable to replicate the issue you mentioned. It would help if you can attach a content that is exhibiting this issue.

Thanks, BV. Attached are two examples. They are from two different courses.

Hi Jess,

I tried this Moodle as well as H5P.org and both contents show the submit screen. Can check if you will still have the same issue:

Hi BV - they will work for me in the Moodle Admin roll, but I've tested as 2 different students on each and neither get the submit screen. Could it be something in the permissions or a site setting? I've been through both and am not seeing anything that should make a difference, but perhaps I'm overlooking something. I also have a help ticket in with our Moodle Host - no word back from them yet.

Hi Jess,

It's a longshot but can you check if you have any errors in the browser console (ctrl+shift+J or F12) when logged in as a student.

Not sure what I'm looking for when I open that window - can you tell me where to look?

Also - it is when I impersonate a user from my admin that I don't see the submit screen, but when I just created a fake student account and logged in (not through my admin account) - the submit screen worked. So I think there is an error when impersonating a user. However, we are still having people reporting that they aren't seeing the submit screen. It could perhaps be user error?? Especially since we have a lot of interactive videos and I've only heard from a small number of people.

Hi Jess,

Errors in the browser console should look similar to the attached screenshot.

The trigger for the submit screen is once you have completed an activity that generates a score i.e. True/False, MCQ etc. It might be possible that after the students answers these they are clicking on the 'check' button.

Issues like this are seldom caused by Moodle settings. However on my end I will still check if can find something in the settings that may cause this.

Hi BV,

This is what I get when logged in as a student and view the activity - see attachment. And thank you for sticking with me to figure this out :)

Hi Jess,

The errors are not pointing specifically to the submit screen.

I would think it may not be clicking on the 'check' button that is why the submit screen is not showing.

Thanks, BV. Even though we had a lot of back and forth plus testing, I am relieved that it is likely user error and not a bug w/H5P. I use too many interactive videos to have to redo them all :)

I'm having the same issue. Did you ever get to the bottom of it? In this case, the "submit" screen is showing up and disappearing randomly for the same video, whether or not I log in as a student or teacher--even if I don't change settings. Very mysterious.

Where do i find the embed code in the drag and drop activity ?

Hi Edna,

You can check the embed code by clicking on the embed button at the bottom of any content. Please note that this is controlled by the author of the content so there are some contents that will not have this.
