Some content types don't work in Course Presentation

Hello!

I run a Moodle plattform and I came across this very puzzling problem:

A Course Presentation one of my authors designed was shown in the Moodle course, but when you click on it, it is not displayed on the next page, that is empty. If you want to work on it, that's possible, but the results cannot be shown.

After some very extensive fiddling, I hit on the fact that "Single Choice Set", "Drag and Drop" and "Drag Text" cause the problem. When I remove them, it runs just fine.

The funny thing: When I do a different  Course Presentation and insert thos content types, it works just fine. However, when I try to copy the one I have there into the problem presentation, it doesn't work there. I have also tried remaking the problem presentation from scratch, all anew. It doesn't work then either.

Has ANYONE ever encountered this? Has anyone any idea what is going wrong here?

All the best,

Julia

Hi Julia,

This quite an unusual issue. There is a possiblility that another activity or a specific setting is triggering this since you mentioned that the said activities works on another presentation.

What is weird is that these content types will work when I start a new CP, but will stop working as it grows. Can it be related to the number of screens?

Hi Julia,

It could be resources issue or something else. I've tested Course Presentation a few months ago trying to find a breaking point with the number of slides and I stopped at slide 100. Do you happen to have more than this? You could also check the browser console for errors as might give you clues to what is causing the issue. If this persists at a certain number of slides/activity I would suggest that you break it down into smaller chunks.

Hey BV,

i´m Daniel, a colleague from Julia. We run an 3.8 Moodle-Version with latests h5p-Version. When i activate the h5p hub, there ist a timeout error which says: "Cannot connect to the hub. Timeout after 20001 milliseconds." When we deactivate the hub it works without the error.

So i think weve go some problems with our serveraccess. Is it possible that the application has not the right to write on the database?

Thanks in advance.

Daniel

Hi Daniel,

This page might help, screeshotsand settings are for Wordpress but there should be similar settings specific to Moodle.

Hi there,

we only got about 20 slides, so that's obviously not the problem then...No idea what is going on there...

Julia

Hi Julia,

You might want to check the browser console (ctrl+shift+J or F12) any errors there could give some clues to what is causing this. I just tried again over the weekend and I ended up crashing my computer (after 200+ slides) before I was able to break Course Presentation. You can also upload the content here I may get lucky and stumble upon what is causing it.

Hi, we are just following some leads, but in case we don't get lucky there we will get back to you!

Hi Julia,

Just post your findings or if you need furhter assistance. This is one of those cases where not a lot of people experience and quite hard to isolate/troubleshoot.
