update

I discovered Interactive Content H5P plugin on Wordpress and I'm giddy with excitement, since you guys obviously read my mind. The plugin has not been updated in 5 months/not tested with current version of WordPress. Are there plans to update? Time? Thank you!

Hi Ronaki!

Yes it will be updated later this year.

Best,

Oliver

Oliver,

I was ecstatic when I noticed that H5P had updated. I installed and activated last night. I worked and tested for hours, with no adverse issues. I successfully created a drag/drop item that seems to work. I tested and updated several times before midnight last night; all functioned perfectly. Today, I found my site broken. It timed out and would not display both on the front and back/Wordpress end. Luckily, I was already logged in when I woke up this morning (bad habit, I know). I clicked the plugins link, which seemed not to work (timeout), but eventually I had access to the plugins page and I disabled HP5. The site was restored.

Thoughts? I'd really love to start using this awesome plugin that does was I want--what, are you in my mind?!?!?!

Hi ronaki!

I really can't tell. Your PHP error log would probably be of great help if you had a look at it. Info from the developer console would also have been useful, but if you cannot reproduce the problem, then you can't use that now.

You can, by the way, always remove a plugin by deleting the respective directory inside wp-content/plugins (not cleanly, because the database entries would still be in your database, but you can access your site at least to further investigate) or by deactivating in in the database - see https://www.ostraining.com/blog/wordpress/disable-a-wordpress-plugin/ got instance.

I think the H5P core team has had reports that may indicate some trouble with particular versions of PHP or/and the type of database used - but only they will be able to tell you more, not me.

Best,
Oliver

Oliver, you are educating me: I took steps to create a PHP error log and, during the wee hours, I'll reactivate H5P to see if the site comes down again. You also spoke of the developer console. Please send a link to direct me further. Googling the term produced a wild variety of results, so no good. Finally, my version of PHP is an older 7.3.27, provided by Bluehost. How do I check dbase type, and should I continue to ask questions here, or were you directing me to the core team?

Hi!

The development console can usually be opened by pressing F12 (ctrl-shift-i for Opera, option-command-c for Safari after activating the development options in the settings).

Here's where I read someone's update problems possibly related to the database : https://wordpress.org/support/topic/cant-find-h5p-content/ but I don't know any details on that issue.

BV is reading here as well. He'll be able to refer things to the H5P core team.

Best,

Oliver

Hi All,

No promises but I will check with the core team for any suggestions.

For what it's worth, I reactivated the plug a week ago and, so far, nothing broke. Thanks!
