Scoring within Moodle

Is anyone successfully using the scores form H5p components?   If so would you be kind enough to share some details please?

We want to break up courses with questions/quizzes, and ensure you have done those before moving on. Preferably within the presentation component.

The Moodle course grades don't appear to collect scores from either the presentation module or single choice modules, showing 'error' instead.

thanks for reading.

Hi,

I reported this into the h5p Jira as a bug, and it will be looked into.

Tom, it's worth noting that grades are reported once assignment completion is switched on within Mooodle settings. Good news.  John.

Thanks, I added your comment to the jira ticket.

H5P for Moodle does record scores to the gradebook.

If you are using Completion Tracking, you have the option to use "required grade" ,which means Moodle will mark the activity as complete when it receives a score.  However, be mindful that at this stage, it doesn't know the pass grade.  So even a score of 1 would mean a pass.

So you need to:

  • Go into the gradebook,
  • TurnEditing On,
  • Click on the cog next to the Activity
  • Click "show more info"
  • Set the "grade to pass".

A lot of teachers forget to do this (understandably)

is there any furhter information about H5P activity scores being reflected in the Moodle grades seciton or does it simply indicate that the activity is complete according to activity completion settings? Any help appreciated using Moodle 3.newest version

Hi nkearns,

H5P contents that supports xAPI provides scores and data (answers given by students) and can be accessed in the Gradebook. I highly recommend looking through these documentation:

Can i have some help please, i have created an activity. It has multiple presentations with multiple questions within some presentations. I have gone through settings but i cannot see the obvious mistake i am making. I have set the activity to have a maximum grade of 18 and a minimum of 18 as well. meaning a 100% score. i have set the activity completion tick on at the required grade to complete. Inside the activity, i have about 4 different slides which have a short couple of questions to answer before you can continue the activity, each presentation has the summary pages and each question have a check with a score that shows. The summary also reflects the scores. But getting to the end of the activity, the score reflects 0/0 and also to see my attempts show all scores 0/0. Where did I go wrong?

Hi goosen61,

You've set up the score of 18 as max and 18 as minimum where? I am guessing in Moodle. You mentioned that in this Course Presentation you have activities within them, could you elaborate what types of questions and are they inside Interactive Video? Have you actually answered the questions and submitted (in case of Interactive Video) when you were testing this. I would also suggest that when testing to use a student account not an admin/author account.

No, i setup my activity exactly as explained just normal presentations. Questions also just in a presentation, no interactive videos or images as such. But, i see that i had to use the 'feedback' setting as a result to be able to receive any score in my real student account or admin account, both worked after feedback was filled in. Feedback does not indicate to the avarage eye as a scoring, as such it was not an obvious place to search. Problem resolved
