"Changes cannot be saved"
Hi
I have added a number of questions to one of my H5P interactive contents bits... but after pressing Save I am getting the message:
"The content on this page has either been modified by another user, or you have already submitted modifications using this form. As a result, your changes cannot be saved."
Why? None of that message makes sense. I am logged in (and so I doubt anyone else is logged in as me)... and I am editing to update the content...
I can still see all my questions listed... all 12 (which took me some time to do). But when I view the interactive content in a Blackboard page (embedded), only the first five appear. There were five in the quiz when i started working on it this morning, so he morning's work isn't being saved... and I can't figure why. (When I log. in using a different browser, sure enough there are just 5 items, not the 12 that there should be.)
I haveused teh same process many time before without error. I don't want to lose all that work...
Any ideas?

Hi Peter,
Are you seeing any browser console errors? Please also check if you have any PHP error.

Does this happen each time
Does this happen each time you try to edit and save content?
Which platform are you on? Drupal?
I think this might be something that is built into the platform. If you are sure no one else has opened the content for editing there may be some sort of conflict between some of the enabled modules/plugins.

I am simply using the web
I am simply using the web interface; it is there where I cannot save.
In the end, I couldn't fix the issue (it persisted whatever I tried, and I wasn't game to shut down and restart). The questions were there, but could not be saved. So before I closed things down (and lost stuff), I did this (in case others experience the same):
And it mostly worked. (I needed to do some editing--some line breaks needed to be reinstated; images got lost, but I just reloaded the very same images; some question types were lost (e.g drag text)).
So it wasn't perfect, but meant I lost only a little rather than a lot.
It still doesn't explain the reason for the issue: The same text was copied and pasted; the same images were uploaded. There was nothing untoward (non-ASCII characters). It now works, using the same text and images and question types, and the same browser (Firefox).
Perhaps my machine was having a bad-hair day.
Thanks everyone.

That is odd, anyway thank you
That is odd, anyway thank you for sharing your insight. We'll keep a look out for this issue so that it won't happen again.

Does this happen only for H5P
Does this happen only for H5P Content or for other content as well?
Also, are you using Drupal, WordPress, Moodle or something else?

"Changes cannot be saved" reply
Not sure what you mean... I've been using H5P and saw it. Most of my other web interaction don't require me to manually save stuff (usually happens automatically), so I wouldn't see a message about saving.
I am using the Web interface only. My institution use Blackboard, so I create on the web, and then embed... But this issue happened when saving on the web interface.

Are you sure you're not using
Are you sure you're not using multiple tabs and accidentally updating the content in another tab first?
I've done some experimenting here on h5p.org and have not run into this issue yet.

Same...
I'm sooooo willing to make h5p work for my resources, but it is just so frustrating how often I lose work through absolutely not predictable The content on this page has either been modified by another user, or you have already submitted modifications using this form. As a result, your changes cannot be saved.

Hi MissSchmiddy,Are you
Hi MissSchmiddy,
Are you creating your contents in H5P.org? If so I suggest that you either host your contents using Wordpress, Moodle or Drupal or sign up for an H5P.com subscription. H5P.org was never intended nor designed to host 'real' content.

This is all well and good, BV
This is all well and good, BV...
... but when I joined up to H5P, I looked hard and did nt find that this was expressed anywhere, let alone expressed clearly. It seems to have been decided later. Others have said the same.
And while I don't have a huge problem wth it, what I do find difficult is that single-person users are effectively excluded. That I find rather annoying.

Hi Peter!Sorry for joining
Hi Peter!
Sorry for joining your conversation that way: What's annoying about having a software that's free, openly sourced and that you can install on your own instance of WordPress, Drupal, moodle, Typo3, ILIAS and others?
I know plenty of people who rent some webspace for a couple of bucks per month and who managed to install one of those platforms on their own. They're not computer scientists or something like that, by the way.
Best,
Oliver

I am happy to be wrong. But
I am happy to be wrong. But when I read h5p.com, it seems it costs me at least $570 a year (https://documentation.h5p.com/content/1290796486149145438).
And this is fine. But on h5p.org, I read this: "Start creating rich interactive content on your own website. It's free and easy to get started" (bold added).
So I find it confusing. Its claimed to be free, yet when I try signing up to h5p.com, it's at least US$570 a year.
Or am I missing something?

Hi P,Actually you are correct
Hi P,
Actually you are correct with the information that you have but it's incomplete. You can say that there are 3 "versions" of H5P.
I hope this clears things up and if you have any clarifications feel free to post your comment.

I see. That had eluded me. Even now that I *know* that, it's very elusive on the website. Really it is.
But even so, I don't use Drupal, Moodle or Wordpress.
So, in my case, back to square one I guess.
You guys are doing a great job, don't misunderstand me. The h5p artefacts are excellent.

Not communicating clearly is
Not communicating clearly is probably true, but it was always meant to be a test drive feature. Communication was not what we did (or do) best.
Most links to the creation page had texts like "try out H5P" and the URL on the front page of H5P.org to the creation page has always been "h5p.org/testdrive-h5p" which would lead to the login page if you're not logged in or to the creation page if you are logged in. On the creation page there has been a blue message on top for a very long time, but not always, telling users that it is for trying out H5P.
Now the blue message on top is bigger and there are messages when you get the embed code and on the embed view itself, but it seems it still isn't enough :/
