Dutch translations

I'll add my Dutch translations of content types here. Also, the Moodle plugin has been translated using the Moodle AMOS translation tool. I don't know what takes preference.

Translation file for dialog cards added

Drag-text translation to Dutch

Editor translation to Dutch

otacke's picture

I created a pull request for interactive video, but the other three translations were not complete, unfortunately.

In h5p-editor-php-library, there are still a couple of phrases to be translated, see https://github.com/otacke/h5p-editor-php-library/blob/dutch_translation/language/nl.js

In h5p-drag-text I had to add some missing default values which are now still in English, see https://github.com/otacke/h5p-drag-text/blob/dutch_translation/language/nl.json

In h5p-dialogcards the phrase for randomize cards was missing, so now it's still in English, see https://github.com/otacke/h5p-dialogcards/blob/dutch_translation/language/nl.json

Could you please complete those files, so I can create a pull request for a complete translation?

Accidentally uploaded the wrong file for the editor, added the correct ones here.

Not a problem at all. I'll create the pull requests today, and I given the speed of Joubel I guess they'll make it into the next release of H5P.

Done :-)

Great work :)

@joostelshoff
The pull requests are already created (just had to add one missing default and remove two unnecessary quotation marks). Well done!

@tim
I noticed that there are three old pull requests for German translations by IsabelZydun for h5p-accordion, h5p-continuous-text and h5p-course-presentation. The latter is a little dated and misses some recent additions, and there's even a conflict with continuous-text. Would you prefer to merge them anyway and letting me improve the translations, or do you prefer me to create completely new requests? Of course, I could also create pull requests to Isabel's pull requests ...

tim's picture

I think we might have to abandon IsabelZydun's pull requests. It's better to start with brand new ones, if possible :)

Hi Joost,

I've made a Dutch Wordpress translation and soon I'll start to translate the H5P Moodle plugin. I should like to know your translation status in order to avoid extra effort.

I haven't done any translation work on the Dutch translations after uploading/sharing the files in this thread. Feel free to add to the list with other content types that haven't been translated yet.

Qsento's picture

Hi Joost,

Thank you for your reply. First I'll translate the H5P plugin for Moodle. Second I'll give my attention to content types not translated yet. It should be a great contribution if you let me know your procedure on this.

hi,

the Moodle plugin is already finished, so no need to go and redo that. Just make sure your Moodle site frequently updates language files.

How do we go about using the new H5P hub (plugin version 1.1 and onwards)? It seems none of the translations for Dutch, or at least not very many, appear to be present.

Hi Joostelshoff,

you're right, we are missing translations for Dutch amongst many other languages. If you would like to help contribute, please consider making a pull request for this file:

https://github.com/h5p/h5p-editor-php-library/blob/master/language/nl.js

I think you've contributed before so I think you know what to do. If you need any help or explanations, just write in!

I translated the editor for Dutch, the nl.js file can be found in the attached zip-file. As for the names and descriptions that are fetched from the hub... how do you handle those translations?

Also from the github?

tim's picture

Thanks for the translations : )

They should be part of the next release later this month.

We don't have a way to translate the names and descriptions pulled from the hub yet. I'll make sure to include it in any future release notes when we do.

Hi Tim,

You're welcome! I found a nasty spelling error in my last translation. Would you mind replacing the nl.js file with the one attached in this comment?

Thanks in advance!

Done!

Hi,

I want to translate the WordPress hub in order to finalize a full Dutch WP plugin (see attachment). Where can I find the Hub file?

Best,  René

tim's picture

Hello again, René!

The translatable text used in the H5P hub can be found here:
https://github.com/h5p/h5p-editor-php-library/blob/master/language/nl.js

Could you attach your file again?

Qsento's picture

Hi Tim,

Thank you for your reply and the link.

I've tried you attach the *.jpg file, but for an unknown reason an error occurs 'Red cross - The selected file WordPress_hub.jpg cannot be uploaded. Only files with the following extensions are allowed: txt, json, png, jpg, gif, zip.'

Nevertheless, with the link I can finalize the translation.

Hi Tim,

I've updated H5P accordion nl.json in order to streamline Dutch readability.

Hi René,

Great! Is this in GitHub, if it is Timothy will handle it when he gets back from vacation in January :)

Hi Tim,

I intend to translate Agamotto, but I can't find it in the Github list. Could you send me the link.

Best, René

BV52's picture

Hi René,

Agamotto was created by someone from the community, which is why you can't find it in the H5P repository. It is located here, which is Otacke's repository.

I've just added missing Dutch translations and made some improvements to improve Dutch readability. Please let me know if you received the pull request in good order.

Best,

Hi René, they should have been merged in. Thank you!

Hi Tim,

You're welcome and thank you for your confirmation.

I intend to translate this interaction, but I can't find a language folder nor a en.json file. Please, let me know if this will be available in due time.

Best, René

Hi René, it should be available here:

Thank you for the right link.

Dutch translations added

Thanks, will merge.

Dutch translations added for the above-mentioned H5P interactions. Pull requests made.

Do you know when they will be available?

Best, René

Hi René,

Sorry for the extremely late response. I, and the Core Team, have been working on a couple different releases as well as H5P.com and as such I have not been able to keep track of all the new forum posts.

I can't say exactly when they'll be available because it depends on when each content type is released. If a content type is actively under development more testing will have to be done before it can be deployed otherwise it ideally should be released as soon as possible. The easiest way to check is to keep track of the PR's on Github.

Qsento's picture

Hi Tim,

Thank you for your reply and all understanding for the present situation you're in. I'll keep an eye of the PR's on GitHub, as you suggested.

Best,

René

In order to add a Dutch translation to this H5P interaction, I did send Luke Muller an e-mail. Unfortunately up till now I didn't receive an answer. What's the alternative to make it available in Dutch?

Best René

tim's picture

Hi René,

Unfortnately, H5P doesn't have control over that particular content type as you've noticed. In order to update libraries just for your installation you will have to patch them. Depending on which plugin you're using you will be able to find the directory from which all your libraries exist and you can manually add the translations there. I've replied to one of your comments below that explains how you can do that.
Let me know if you have any problems with this.

Qsento's picture

Hi Tim,

Thank you for your explananation. I'll take notice of it.

Best,

René

I should like to translate this H5P interaction, but on the GitHub a language folder is missing. What's the alternative to make it available in Dutch?

Best, René

tim's picture

Hi René,

if a language folder doesn't exist yet it has to be added either by one of us in the core team or by a pull request form someone in the community. Since I can't predict exactly when I will have the time to add language folders to all the content types I recommend installing a tool called the H5P command line interface which will allow you to generate language files from the semantics.json file:

https://h5p.org/h5p-cli-guide

Qsento's picture

Hi Tim,

Thank you for you this alternative. I can make pull requests for missing language folders, but generating language files from the semantics.json file is beyond my present knowledge. So if you have the opportunity to describe this method in more detail, it would be a great help.

Best,

René

Thank you for releasing this new interaction. I should like to translate this module, but on the Github both the language folder and the en.json file are missing #thomasmars. Can you take care of this?

Best, René
