Italian translation

akud's picture

Hello!

It's a while I'm translating H5P interactive contents. My problem now is that I can find neither Personality Quiz nor Advanced Fill the Blanks repositories on Github.

Also, I've noticed it was also released a new content type, Find the Words, and of course I'd love to translate it, but I don't find the repository of this either.

Any help?

Thanks

Hi akud,

First of all thank you for the contribution. The contents that you mentioned above are all contributed by community members such as yourself and the libraries are saved in their repositories. Below is the list:

Personality Quiz - https://github.com/LumeniaAS/h5p-personality-quiz

Advanced Fill in the Blanks - https://github.com/sr258/h5p-advanced-blanks

Find the words - https://github.com/jithin-space/h5p-find-the-words

Please note that afaik personality quiz is not actively developed anymore.

I'm gonna start from Advanced Fill in the Blanks and move through Find the words. Then I'll see...

One of my students used Image pairing (https://sandbox.ital2.org/risorse/competenze/cultura/italiano-da-gustare/). I noticed it's not translated.

More important, I noticed, once more, that it's almost impossible for me, to be aware of the amount of work that is still left to be done.

Ok, I'm happy working on GitHub, but not everything is under H5P (Personality Quiz is in Lumenia profile and so on).

Then, after the last update I found out that also into Interactive Video there are still parts in English. Ok, maybe they are new libraries. No problem.

My problem is this: how to keep up to date with the state of art? I have no problem in dealing with a list of file to translate. Moreover, I'm starting to involve students and trainees in this project so... fresh energies! What I miss the most is the list of the missing translations.

Is there a way to solve the problem? Italian SLA is not a poor or a small "market" and there are loads of teacher we are starting to spread the word. But of course the Italian UI is the precondition to take them on our side :)

Thank you for your attention

Hi akud,

I think someone with more developer skills in the community can answer your question. I've also forwarded this to the core team but please give them some time to answer since they are in a tight schedule.

I've discarded Personality Quiz, since it's not more maintained. I've submitted also Advanced fill the blanks and I'm actually "unemployed" :(

I'm gonna go into git, /h5p, to see if I found out something more to update.

I'll keep on hold...

Hi Akud,

I can totally understand your frustration, and as a consequence of your message here, I have created https://lang.fnoks.joubel.com/. The plan is to update this on a daily basis (using the master branch). Currently, the list contains only the libraries in the github H5P organization, but I can add more later.

What we really want to do in the future, is to set up a system where you will get a list of the untranslated/translated strings, and at the same time be be able to translate them then and there. Unfortunately, I haven't found the time yet to work on that.

Thank you for your effort (and patience) in translating H5P :)

Thank you, so much. It's at least a very nice starting point (but it's really more than that).

I have found many libraries and I can get back to work.

One question about something not so clear to me: You told you've been working "only on the libraries in the github H5P organization", but I didn't found h5p-agamotto. Is it not under github.com/h5p, I mean, is it under another "directory"?

Of course a direct link from the library's name would be the ideal solution, but I think this is what you are going to add in the future.

Thans again for getting back.

Have a nice day

@fnoks If you want to set up a H5P translation platform, I can really recommend using Weblate for this. Don't re-invent the wheel when there are already existing and well-supported and well-maintained solutions out there! I have a running installation of Weblate at https://deutsche-h5p-uebersetzungscommunity.tk . It works really well with H5P if you apply a fix to make it work with your JSON structure (only a minor patch). I would be happy to help you set up your own Weblate installation. Alternatively, I could also rename the existing Weblate installation and we could think of a schema to integrate it better into your workflow (currently it creates pull requests, which is a lot of manual work).
