Multiple choice as drop-down

tormoda's picture

As a language teacher, it would be very useful to have multiple choice as a drop-down menu.

Example: he went to the café, but he didn't [buy/bought] anything.

Hi tormoda!

Have you had a look at Advanced-Fill-in-the-Blanks?

Best,

Oliver

Thanks, Oliver! That is exactly what I was looking for.

Now I just hope that H5P.com will include this function, as I think that's where our LMS get's its H5p-functionality from.

Best regards

Tormod

Hi Tormod,

I'm afraid there are also some content types that are not available in H5P.com (this includes Advanced Fill in the Blanks). Below is the list and the reasons why:

Hi, When is an in-line dropdown multiple choice feature  likely to be available on h5p.com?

What about a feature that allows students to drag sentences into position to order them?

I personally feel that these two features are really useful and to be honest they will definately determine whether i stay on h5p.com as they are a very important part of my course content style/format.

Is there alikelihood of them being available on H5P.com anytime soon?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Hi!

Both is possible. Advanced Fill in the Blanks features drop-down blanks (https://h5p.org/advanced-fill-the-blanks). Sort the words features ordering sentences (https://www.olivertacke.de/labs/2020/11/01/a-sort-of-sorts/). You can install them on your own H5P powered server by uploading the respective demo contents, but not on H5P.com, unfortunately. The H5P core team will have to answer if and when they will include those two there.

Best,

Oliver

I'm not sure if this is the reason, but I notice that when you put an URL inside brackets, this forum does not make it a clickable URL.

Compare:

Sort the words features ordering sentences (https://www.olivertacke.de/labs/2020/11/01/a-sort-of-sorts/).

Yes, when I am writing on my smartphone, the link option doesn't work and I don't fiddle with HTML to add the URL.

OK, thanks.

Complex Fill in the blank is not available in the Interactive Book. So if still its not available then how to use get drop down option  inside the Interactive Books.

Hi,

Unfortunately, this is not possible. Complex Fill in the Blanks has not yet been added in Interactive Book. I noticed that my colleague has already answered you through the H5P.com email support and has sent your request to the Product team.

Complex Fill in the Blanks (aka Advanced Fill in the Blanks) does not work well as subcontent - usually even crashes.

So if we need to use the Interactive book or Presentation as our demand fullfill only thorugh this type only and we would need Drop down also then how to move forward?

Hi,

Once the issues mentioned by Oliver are fixed and any other requirements needed (accesibility, UX etc.) it will be added to the more complex content types. I don't have any timelines if and when this may happen.

The question is who would fix the issue in Complex/Advanced Fill in the Blanks. I don't want to go into more detail now, but technically these are two different (conflicting) branches of the same content type maintained by different people.
